It's really only how you learned to play 3D games years ago. And you can switch the preference if you train long enough.
I think that, because when there was this Medal of Honor on PSP I learned to control the camera with analog nub on the left, and move around using face buttons.(swapped sides) I took few hours to get it right, but later I even had no problems switching between a console...
If a publisher doesn't have a lot of money for an advertisement then their first game is the advertisement.
If it's good then over time many will know about the game from forums or friends.

Also no mention of the resolution of the screen. Think about the size of that screen, you can't expect 1080p on such small screen, OLED, not yet. I would guess that one screen is about half the iphone's screen at best, so you would have 640x480 on each, and that's iphone 4 screen (really dense one). This is not even close to 1920x1080.

Metal gear games were made for MSX, a console made by Sony and Microsoft.
MGS2 was also released on PC and Xbox.
