The problem that the game has is genre confusion. They want the game to be a horror, but they tried to make the game play action. The 4 was not to bad, most all enemies were slow and in front or there were only 2. This one has multiples of faster enemies, but it has the slow controls.
Any Dx11 API would be the parts backwards compatible with 9/10.
Actually Omega i dont know if you noticed but the 360 is only marginally outselling the PS3 right now as of week to week. Then the 360 has a few class action lawsuits this year that could potentially devastate the supply lines/consumer trust. And finally Sony still has extremely strong ps2 sales that could easily be converted into ps3 sales.
Why does Sony need one game to change the game? Why can't they have multiple? I know in Japan Sony will have a better year than last because of a plethora of high profile titles.
Normally I don't like doing this, but the short sightedness of some of these comment's is just wow. Alot of people here forget about sim's vs games. Sure the flight sim might not have been that popular to hardcore xbox fans, but it was pretty good. You have to remember that with some of the sales sim's have they can actually have been sold to companies and even government's for training.
The problem with comparing Sony vs. Microsoft, is the reporting system. MS used shipped, while Sony does sold to consumer.
It's really quite amazing what they have done tech wise, too bad the major of those who will play this will never realize the subtleties of the engine.
So basically the author says it will dominate because of what they wish will happen?
It's only logical because even the main director of FFXIII doesn't want to even see the 360 port, and was teasing about Wada being killed in a secret mission in a video game
The problem with this is they run right into Sony's best plans. There are a lot of games starting this year that are 2 disks or bigger on the 360, after 3-4 I would think that the might go Blu-Ray only. Then next gen Sony has massive amount of studio's that would be ready to go versus MS 3-4. MS will not have the same luxury of companies like SE bending over backwards to make exclusive games for them again.
While I see your point, I think square share holders are going to be waking up very quickly when they see the numbers for this, versus PS3 rpgs this year. I think that Wada might have a quick exit near the end of the year, especially since Kitase and Nomura sharing publicly that their is major internal tension with this 360 strategy
Well of course they are going to say, buy it now, don't wait for us to make it. But i think it probably will come to PS3 for the money sake.
@danny
The PS3 doesn't cost as much as some people think(iSuppli) + then yen is softening back up which means the ps3 is easier to break even on.
Yes you are right about that, the reason though why I said a BD is faster is because DVD's cannot run at max speed all the time because of its design. It's about the average you can get between the slowest(inside) and the fastest(outside) read speed. Where BD's are constant throughout.

Actually Fishy since the game would be on a DL DVD the blu-ray disc reads slightly faster.
Hey i can't say that its a guarantee, but for the backwards compatibility i think that they will start gearing it up soon for 3 reasons. First B/C was expensive so that is why they took it out, and now software could easily be made. Second the PS2 is almost ready to retire, they didn't want to take away sales from that just yet, since it made money. And finally there are a ton of studios now that are finishing up humongous projects, like home, KZ2 engine, stuff like that, they are free to hav...
You do realize that the to article link you gave was just a plug from ATI about there hardware. And as much as I like Harmonix they dont really have much to speak of for pushing the consoles
I would think this numbers for this week will be a bit higher, since White Knight was later in the week
I would say this is mostly guesswork and speculation based on current rumors. The part about the Cell is a no brainer. It was a multi-billion dollar investment that they are still investing in, they are not just going to drop it like that. But as for ram I have some issues with their guess. One reason why the XDR is so expensive is because it is still a limited production item, and the PS3 uses four chips. By the time the next PS comes around, the XDR family cost will be significantly lowered...
