I see what youre saying but thats not really what i meant. story tone yeah but think about the tone of the levels, the bowser levels in SM64 had a dark bleak tone that nintendo hasnt been able to reproduce since. they made it feel like if you didnt reach the end of the level and defeat bowser he was going to KILL the princess. I think 4K glasses free 3DTVs will become pretty popular for gaming and sports watching with people who are uncomfortable with wearing a VR headset. It'll be a pretty poular halfway step until lightfield cameras get powerful enough to broadcast live holographic content. I hope all 3D technology succeeds because in the end everyone will want lightfield displays anyway.
If you think google isnt experimenting with VR yet youre crazy (with their hyper fast connections they could probably do 8k+ per eye VR video conferencing). You would be surprised at the number of patents Apple has for holographic and glasses free 3D projection systems that they dont make into products yet because the technology just isnt quite there.

they should bring out a new dark rift. that game was hardcore asf on N64. some weird taiwanese company developed it but it was sick. there are a bunch of hardcore N64 games they could bring back.

the Sega Saturn did online play and 704x540 resolution at 60FPS in 1994. just started playing Saturn games with an HDMI upscaler through RGB, looks arcade quality. pretty mind blowing. the N64 does RGB at 480p but you have to mod it. still. wow.
