It's true that not all games primarily use the two sticks... but it's hard to argue against the vast majority of the biggest, most popular releases being FPS or TP action games requiring movement in a 3D space with a controllable camera. And therefore the controller should cater to this first to please the most people possible.

Do you know why the Xbox controller wasn't designed like the Wii U Pro Controller considering the Xbox has always been heavily associated ...

I know what you mean, there really isn't much difference nowadays... both comfy and functional.

Logically though, the most ergonomic position for the left thumb should be the same for the right.

Maybe the lower position is better for accuracy (aiming) and the upper for comfort (movement)? Anyone know the reason for the asymmetrical design?

I can't believe this has happened to be honest! Halo was one of the games you could count on to bring awesome and fun splitscreen with up to 4 players.

Spot on with the whole 1080/60 debate fueling this. It's used almost as a marketing ploy since people make such a big deal about it.

So now it's graphics/1080p/60fps > > > > gameplay > fun. Oh what a time to be a gamer :(

Remasters and collections are a good thing.
They let people who have never experienced the game play.
They help people who want to play future games in the series by bringing in easy money to the publisher/developer.

The only negative is publishers may stick to the formula rather than risk new IPs - but this varies per publisher and may encourage more risks with some publishers due to the increased financial security.

I doubt many people comp...

I really enjoyed PW when playing it as part of the MGS collection, it was very different to the other MGS games. I played through all the games in chronological order at the time (except Portable Ops) and in that moment I thought PW was the best due to the RPG elements which were brought in.
Looking back though, I think it was just a nice change to the games I had completed many times.

PW's story was great - the Boss AI stuff was brilliant and a nice nod to 2001:...

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Mother Base thing. I love progression and RPG elements in action games and it was good fun through the majority of Peacewalker - got a bit meaningless and ludicrous towards the end though constantly firing guys into the sky with the fullton-recovery system.

A drawback of this system is that the narrative of the game will change. It will no longer be the epic infiltration mission with "On-site Procurement" equipment, where ...

First ending Arkham Knight dies in a fiery explosion.
Second ending Arkham Knight is crushed by a Kryptonite meteor.
Third ending Arkham Knight drowns in the Gotham River.

Red, Green or Blue.. you decide :)

I hope the SP doesn't have the mission setup like Ground Zeroes and Peacewalker. It should have continuing gameplay with fluid story transitions... not text and menus every 20 minutes.

"Return to Mother Base" was a great idea for portable gaming but hopefully V will stick to the console formula.

Of course it's worth playing. A better question would be "Is it worth replaying"... for me no. I like experiencing new games over something I have played many times, no matter how good. But for people who have never played Uncharted... enjoy :)

It will be interesting to see if there are any improvements made to them, UC1 especially.

Golden Abyss would be great to replay with a good controller... I wonder if they would have to up the difficulty if they did remake it for PS4.

Good comment and interesting perspective.
It's also nice to see someone around here that tries to put comments like these into context. Most people just read the title and comment.

In terms of storytelling, surely it must go book>tv/video game>movie.

Video games can be great because they allow the player to be immersed in the world and characters for a long time. Similar to a TV show in that character development can occur over a number of hours rather than minutes in movies.

This is a strange statement from someone who has made a decent story in Braid.

I get what he means about cutscenes though, sometimes that...

I thought it was clear I was being facetious with the asshole part...
Of course I still massively respect him for the games he has created.

Again, small easter eggs are fine, maybe he could have mo-capped himself to be sitting in a port-a-loo somewhere in the game world. That would have been funny and understated.
But the way he presented himself as a VIP and used his real name to me shows ego and is not like a director playing a character in a movie but a dir...

I honestly didn't enjoy it. And this is coming from a die hard MGS fan. I think I played MGS2 over 10 times. And similar with the rest of the series. The games are fantastic with some of the best boss battles in gaming.

But I don't need to see the creator in their own game. He already has his name on the box and in opening and closing credits which should be enough.
It's too much to also have him in the game. This is not like Stan Lee having a 5s comedic a...

I honestly can't believe a gamer could say this!

One of the most iconic video game characters and voices receives a massive change which fans of the long running franchise were against and for a reason which is not good enough.

Snake is his voice. A change to such an integral part of him completely changes the character. I did at times feel like I wasn't playing Snake in Ground Zeroes.

To me, this is like redesigning M...

Keifer was very poor. I can't remember one line of dialogue.
Some may argue that Hayter's performance was a bit cheesy but at least it was memorable.

Could you imagine Keifer as Snake saying "A Hind-D?"... no because you'd need subtitles to understand him and you would fall asleep before he'd finished the line anyway.

Is there any other video game character with such an iconic voice as Snake? What Kojima did would be the same...

I probably wouldn't go so far as to say he's an asshole, but it does take a pretty big ego to motion cap yourself into your own game.

I thought that was really lame on his part.
A small easter egg (even Peace Walker was pushing it) is fine but actually putting yourself in the game is so lame and draws the player right out of the game world. It definitely negatively affected my experience of Ground Zeroes.

And getting rid of the most iconic voi...

That's a good point... also any online game in general must do the same.

I'm not an expert on this at all but I think there are a lot of tricks to achieve this and that's why the experience is not always optimal and varies per game.
