I looked at your link and the actual review, where does it say they tried it sitting down in all different lights and it didn't work? Maybe I missed something, no really maybe I did, not trying to be a troll.
its like saying the ps3 isnt as powerfull as the 360 because ported games aren't as good. Exclusives on ps3 show the difference between developers, is it any different than kinect, when some games have more lag than others?
Casual games and hardcore controller only games. I am not elitist enough to think you can't enjoy one and enjoy the other. negative reception from the hardcore gaming sites but sites from normal non gamers like abc and the ny times find it very enjoyable just like most people i know who bought it. Have fun living in your ivory tower looking down on the poor souls who enjoy games that allow them to just have a good time with.
In Billings Montana, if you didn't pre order you are s.o.l. and while I was waiting in line at least 5 people came in and asked if they had it and they said they didn't know when the next shipment would hit.. So each persons experience is different.
don't appeal to a video game centric website. Just like someone who doesn't like italian food wouldn't like spaghetti and meatballs. They sound like hardcore gamers and this doesn't appeal to them. I have it, and think it is fun. My wife and i played for 6 hours today and had a great fun time. Was it like playing GTAIV, nope but it was fun. Anyone who dismisses this thing based on the games that are out right now probably just don't like casual games.

I got kinect sports and the pack in game kinect advaentures. My wife and I played it for about 6 hours today, man what a workout and its not even a workout game.

one dark skinned worker never got it to recognize his facial recognition. Another got it to do it sometimes and a third never had any trouble. So who knows if it is going to be a problem or not. Seems pretty quick to start using this type of headline. They act like it is a given when it only didn't work for facial recognition so he could still play games, and it worked for one and not the other person, maybe the dude was just so ugly it wouldn't recognize him. I am in the U.S. and haven't seen much. I wonder if they are saving the money to blow up at Christmas. I don't think it is gonna blow up like a lot of people think at launch. I got mine pre-ordered, but none of my other friends do, and most who don't own a 360 have no idea what it is.

some of the complaints, not being able to use the voice command 50% of the time and the echo form the video chat are completely different from some other reviews. Some reviews said that the voice commands were awesome and the video chat worked perfectly... wonder why this is.
