A PS4 is comparable to a $600-700 gaming rig. A PS3 can match ~$400.
If you aren't attempting time travel, you should build a gaming rig for under $2000; that'll future-proof it for several years, make consoles cry and still allow you to eat in the coming weeks.
Same goes for PS4, much like how this applied to both PS3 and Xbox 360.
You've clearly never actually played a PS4 game.
"PC specs," eh? Using PC parts doesn't make them so. An R9 270 is comparable to PS4's GPU.

Owning consoles is not irrelevant, as it eliminates the value of multiplat games from Steam Machines.
A significant portion of which is available on cheaper machines (that'd be the consoles).

Commendable comments, to be sure, but he does shy away from the underwhelming scores of the system's launch games a bit. Knack is probably a particularly sore spot.
