That's the reason why updates suck now compared to back when we used to be happy to see them. The PS3 has become so feature packed that we don't and probably will never see any more of those huge, feature packed updates. Everything is there that they can implement already. All we get now is compatibility updates unless they want to improve on an existing feature.

I think the eyes on David Cages demo definitely looked better, more realistic. These ones were like super shiny plastic.
The mouth also looked bad/standard on this one, he wanted to compare it to the cg of beowolf and failed hard. Beowolf characters, to this day, STILL look so human it's hard to tell they're animated at times. This, mainly because of the soulless eyes, smiling and overall mouth animations, made it blatantly obvious.
The eyes on the PS4 tech demo the Heavy Rain guy showed looked better, these ones were all glossy and super plastic. Even the facial animations of the mouth still looked worse in comparison. He talked about Beowolf's Angelina Jolee creey realism and then showed something that looked creep yet unrealistic. The only thing that good great was the skin texture and skin textures have looked great on pc games for years already.

No, the context doesn't fit quite as well when compared to the Wii and Wii-U. Wii had many casual gamers and they DIDN'T feel comfortable about the Wii-U because they lost interested in the Wii. Seeing what happened with it had a NEGATIVE effect on their interest in a new Wii.
The people that WERE interested in Wii-U were the core gamers because of all the titles mentioned before launch but many got pushed back so they lost interest too. They sat waiting for more game...
It'll be cool to get a new console that instantly has a high userbase to play along with as soon as it's out. There's so many pre-orders plus the rumor of them having 16 million available at launch. If that holds true or even anywhere near 8 million launch the PS4 will have an epic community day 1.
