The thing people need to realize is sure the first Kinect may have sold 20 million units or whatever but what was it's attach rate?
I for one have a Kinect, my GF bought one because she wanted to be more involved in my gaming, she bought it and one of the exercise programs, she used it for a few weeks and then it sat there for 5-6 months collecting dust, I disconnected it and never touched it again, I'm quite sure I'm not the only one with a story like that.
Another article where Microsoft has to "clarify" a previous statement...
The reason people are "Bitching" as you put it is Microsoft went out of their way to try and convince us that everything they have 180'ed on so far could not be done because it would break the system, the system was built around this and the system was built around that and so on, we all knew it was B.S but still they continued with the lies.
Now they are trying to convince us that they are doing all this because they care about us, it's sickening.
C...
My main hang-up all along was the mandatory Kinect followed by the DRM/Used game policy, now that Kinect is no longer a requirement I'm happy but in the same token I'm still not getting one (for now) for a few reasons
1. Now that I don't have to have Kinect I don't want Kinect and I damn sure don't want to pay for something I don't want.
2. The more Microsoft told me this or that was "required" the more I called B.S. now that...
TBH neither system has anything I'm DYING to play and with my massive backlog on the 360, PS3 and PC can keep me easily playing for a minimum six months BUT I am kinda excited to see what next gen can offer.
Before or after the holiday is fine either way, I just don't want to wait TOO long.
What apology/ies?
I haven't heard a single one yet...
And now Kinict has joined them and it's not mandatory to be on (or connected) either. ;)
@AllroundGamer
Apologies, so many people so quick to defend everything Microsoft does and I was too quick to realize your sarcasm.
Been reading too many of their silly comments today, again apologies.
@ AllroundGamer
Then I must Not be a gamer as well because none of that appeals to me either, even with my over 200 Xbox 360 games and 102385 GS.
Don't believe me click on my account and see for yourself.
Most everyone got a turn in their unboxing.
About Money.
There I finished the sentence for you.
It's easy for them to justify all their 180's by saying "We are listening to YOU!"
They want to B.S. you with a warm a fuzzy feeling like they actually care about you, bottom line it's all about the Benjamins.
Microsoft PR guy said on Neogaf "if [they] were to remove the Kinect from the bundle, then THAT would be a 180... but it's not going to happen".
No, that would be the Second 180 on the same subject.
The first 180 is the LIE that the system wouldn't work with the Kinect Connection.
Umm... aren't you keeping a list on all the 180's so far?
Do you believe anything Microsoft says now?
I love the argument that making the Kinect mandatory will better gaming, just because a Kinect comes in every box doesn't mean Devs are going to go out of the way to use it, especially Multi platform devs.
The Kinect reversal is a smart move and if they were really smart they would release a Kinect free system with priceing around $349.00 - $379.00 to undercut Sony and finally put a positive in their column.
And like I said in another post, half of these ...
Trust me now that Microsoft has said that the system will work without Kinect they will ship them without Kinect, if they want to compete they have to.
If they were smart they would price the Kinect free system at $349.00 - $379.00.
I can also almost guarantee that half of all these folks screaming for Kinect support all along will change their pre-orders when they know they can buy 2 games with the money they save.
You can disagree all you want but ...
How does this make people look stupid?
It was Microsoft all along trying to convince us that the system wouldn't work without a peripheral hooked up to it and we wouldn't buy it.
That's like trying to convince someone your computer wouldn't work if a printer wasn't hooked up to it.
At this point I'm relieved M$ has came to their senses but in the same token it's still hasn't convinced me to go with a One as well as a PS...
Personally I wouldn't want to see any more than 5-6, any more than that you lose that sense of co-op and you enter into the realm of a multi-player feel with everyone running around in their own area doing their own thing.
Why can't Microsoft release info with clarity?
It's seems like every time they announce something a half a dozen articles pop up afterward "clarifying" what they just said.
I got tired of replacing the batteries every week-ish so i bought rechargeable ones, I then discovered those only last a year to year and a half and then don't really want to hold a charge again, I then when to those rechargeable packs that snap into the controller, after about 3 1/2 years they are starting to act like they don't want to hold a charge, I'll just deal with it.
Bottom line I think Microsoft's decision was a monetary one, not that it would cost m...
I have to say this article feels like it could have been written by me, the only difference is I haven't canceled my XBL sub and have no intentions to do so.
I'm not boycotting Microsoft outright but at this point I am boycotting their vision of Next Gen.
For now I'll stick with My 360 and PS3 and for Next Gen I have a PS4 and 8 games pre-ordered.
