It will be a device that plugs in between the DVD drive and the consoles motherboard like the XK3y it could be 100% undetectable by Nintendo as the system thinks its just a DVD drive, also it will have its own re writable flash memory to counter any firmware updates.
We'll see how powerful it is when the Ps4/Nexbox games get ported to it (if WiiU owners are lucky). It will truly look like crap when digital foundry does some comparisons.
They can't just bounce back if they have nothing really good to show people, You think if they had many great exclusives coming out this year they would not want the whole world to see?
If MS and Sony cannot do a worldwide console release this Xmas than that would of been a perfect time for the WiiU to pickup more sales especially if they cut the price slightly.
So Nintendo has nothing special to show ? How sad glad I cancelled my WiiU preorder or I'd be staring at a console with nothing good to play on it.
Iwata needs go, Nintendo needs someone who understands what the core gamer wants and the importance of 3rd party support and can ensure it. It's too late for the WiiU but maybe their next console will get it right if he's not there.

The will never have a level editor, they will sell rip off map packs for as long as they make money.

As far as 3rd parties go this will be the Wii all over again I think. The casuals will stick with their original Wiis (Wii fit& sports etc), the core will go for PS4/720 leaving the hardcore Nintendo fans and they need a 3d mario/zelda/metroid/smash bros.
Without the install base 3rd parties will not bother devoting time and money on a WiiU version with added features when they can just port their games to 360/ps3 or PC/PS4/720.

Well said I'm sick of console only fanboys saying 60fps does not matter, it f@king well does especially for FPS's/Racing and fighting game and even more when it's online MP.
Sadly I think the next consoles will go for visuals over framerate, I'd rather have 60fps@720p than 30fps@1080p for the above mentioned games.
Suppose I will have to play 3rd party games on PC still for the performance and consoles for the exclusives.
This is cool but not as practical as a JTagged 360 that can play 100's of games that are installed on USB or internal hard drives without the need for the game to even be in the dvd tray at all, switching games from freestyle dash without even getting up.
