Movies are recorded in 24 fps. so having 1080p 24hz(which is the refresh rate) is viewing the movie exactly the way it was recorded. My question would be if you choose this setting and are using HDMI would that not lock your PS3 games which use BR into 24 fps?
I don't know if any of you recall when playstation was releases in had a standard controller. Then a "dual analog" was available. Then a "dual shock" was available. Look people rumble is controlled by software. Basically all PS3 owners will only have to buy new controllers not new gaming systems. Now if they can only provdide updates for games that are already out to include rumble.

This is kinda a no-brainer. I will admit I have grown fond of BR movies. But movies are not going to sell a console games will. So I will watch my movies and get a game here and there and be glad that I have a PS3. And even if the plug gets pulled on the PS3 and it goes right in the crapper it's not like I am going to get rid of what I got. I'll get the HD-DVD add-on for Xbox360. Between the 2 I figure I am sorted out for awhile.
It should not be. If it's made for the PS3 then it's made for the PS3. If they decide to put it on XBOX360 and it runs like poop oh well. If it's supposed to be multi-platform then this whole thing is pointless.

Yes I agree the ps2 was 299 at launch. I do recall though that at that time that was high for a console but cheap for a dvd player. I am not comparing 299 to 600 smackers but I am also not going to compare DVD to blu-ray or 480p to 1080p. PS2 was a good value for what you got. PS3 is the same. I think all 3 consoles out right now are good values for what you get.
This sounds like a argument from 7 years ago. PS2 implemented the "emotion engine" PS3 implements the "Cell". PS2 included a DVD player. PS3 includes a Blu-Ray. Look you people are way too involved in this. I agree with you 100% that older gamers can have fun. But in the rare instances that I do get to game I don't see the Wii console as something that I want to play. I am not putting it down. Just not my idea of relaxing and gaming. All my point is/was is that the Wii is so different and is appealing to a different audience it does not matter if the other two consoles catch the Wii or not.

Although I have no doubt that not all PS3s have sold to consumers, it seems to me that the two websites that track sales have no clue about any of the systems. If you look at nexgen or vgchartz they are all over the map. Is there a place that can accurately count the amount of systems sold? I doubt it. It's war. It's propaganda. Having X360, PC and a PS3 I can say I don't see a point of getting a Wii. The only reason I would get one is to let my kids play with it. Being an "older" gamer the last thing I want to do is stand in front of my big screen looking at bad graphics while I flail about. I want to sit on my arse and drink beer. IMO the Wii is a handheld device that you put on a bookshelf. Not the center hub of a home theater center like the other two consoles. All three are worth what you pay for...
I have PS3 firmly entrenched in my HTS. IF it blows a gasket and fails it won't affect me much. As long as BR movies come out I'll add them to my BR collection. Now with streaming I can get my computer out of the living room. So I will be using it no matter what for a long time.
