It's pretty much a reboot with an entirely new story, all different characters, completely new setting, new gameplay mechanics, etc. No connection at all to previous BioShocks unless they're planning on having "coincidental" easterggs we don't know about.
Have fun collecting outdated ports, son. I'll have fun with new games.
This and BioShock: Infinite are all I need for March.
It makes more sense to build your console around the requests of the gaming industry's top developers. The PS4 seems to be a developer's dream this time around. I know I myself was worried Sony were going to introduce the Cell 2.

I think that when we actually get to see Knack in proper gameplay form, mostly everyone will fall in love with it. I don't like the name much but the art's already there.

Sony still making AAA games for the PS3, had the most GOTY winners and nominees this gen, outsold the 360 worldwide
Microsoft stopped making games a long time ago and focused on Kinect towards the end, relied on the same IP all gen long, lost Bungie while Epic still owns Gears of War and can do as they please with it
