People obviously care because when ever their is a fanboy war people always bring up these points. Since the points are already out their might as well clarify them a bit more to show Microsoft's perspective in a way.
Did you read the article? The first HD DVD drive was given to Microsoft in October, prototypes were available for much longer then that so if they wanted to they could have easily done so.

A record feature is actually useful in many games, sadly games that need it don't have it! Who at Midway decided Stranglehold should not include some sort of video save feature?
Actually people are releasing games with the Beta kit, you can use the beta kit to send the game to your Zune or you can make the code in Visual 08 and integrate it with RIG.
It gives you a general idea, not every has capture cards you know. And for what it is the video is much better quality then the tons of other videos where people record their TV's.
