wATdfck: I didn't say anything about a virus, by threat I meant hacking, you know so you can play pirated games and such on the console.
The XBox 360 memory unit is not able to transfer content to a PC without the use of a third party unofficial tool, a SD card doesn't have such protection.
Yea transfer content to a SD card that will get transfered to a computer, hacked, and all over Torrent sites. That's why Microsoft's is closed about storage device's, they pose a threat to the system.
Their is a way, out of the $179 or what ever the cost of the HDD is after everything i done and over with Microsoft makes less then $20 per HDD, not as much as what people previously thought.
No it's not different, it's practically the same thing, DVD is also well known to be used by pirate's as well in Asia, should the big 2 just remove DVD movie support completely? I don't know much about the VCD pirating problem but in my many trips to Asia I see more pirated DVD's then VCD's being sold.
If your referring to Blu Ray on the 360, then I should let you know Blu Ray is no break through yet, it doesn't even have 10% of the DVD market share yet. When it gets at least 50-60 I think you can call it a break through.
Yea thats true but Microsoft does business different in Asia then Sony or Nintendo, Microsoft has partnered with the local movie industry in India for instance to promote the Xbox 360, it's highlighted in the article itself.
Its funny how you guys don't bother reading the article instead just base your comments on what the title is.
I assume you didn't read the article, Microsoft doesn't make the huge profit people think they do on accessories, it's really outlined in the article. Kotaku even has a few detailing how the price is divided when it comes to accessories.
Thats true but has the article states in many countries where consoles are available VCD support would only add to the list of reasons has to why a console would be good for them.
MadJedi: The format war started because Sony and the BDA refused to use HDi on Blu Ray despite HP telling the BDA they should since HDi was superior to BDj, just look at the load times on a HD DVD and on a Blu Ray, I don't know if this happens on all Blu Rays but a few months ago videos were released where a guy had to wait a few minutes before his Blu Ray movie loaded on his PS3.
I guess if Sony and the BDA accept HDi has a standard then maybe,
@mikeslemonade: You seem frightened by the possibility of the next Xbox having a HD DVD player, why?
@ruibing: I assume you didn't read the article
Don't be stupid, it will not play in current players. Thats like saying your DVD's will work in a CD player, modifications will be needed.
Yea and it was all thanks to Sony "beating a dead cat".
What?
The closest people will get to the return of HD DVD in the movie industry is CH DVD, aka CBHD which is 90% HD DVD and 10% Communist. :)
Well if you are replying to my last sentence then you are wrong since it was used by news stations and such. If you are talking about sales then again your wrong, when Beta Max quit their market share was less then 7.5%, HD DVD's was around 25%ish wasn't it?
If your talking about something else then feel free to correct me.
Sony beat a dead cat, it was called "beta max", ever heard of it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
"The last Sony Betamax was produced in 2002."
I believe Beta Max was also tinkered with in a similar manner and used for recording video on cameras.
Meh, Arkham Asylum is what I'm excited for.
Shine: +1 bubble :)
zo6_lover27: It was hacked, in fact it was hacked a while ago through the Blu Ray player I believe.
