I've only played a bit, it's not a bad game by any means from what I seen. Sales wise I don't think it was overlooked especially in comparison to the other games.
I definitely agree with Banjo Kazooie and Brothers in Arms. Resistance not so much since it still sold hella well so you can't really say it was "over looked".
That was a fake news story.
Fanboys sure go to extreme lengths don't they, sorry for my ignorance but what on earth is TVR?
Someone link me?
The thing with Microsoft first party titles is they never push the system in terms of graphics like how Sony does. Sure their is Gears but for the most part that's it, other studios should focus on photo realism as well.
What Microsoft needs to understand is things have changed since the last generation, third party exclusives are a dying breed, you can't expect third parties to "push" your system anymore.
Atleast wait till their dead before speculating on who gets what.
Who ever disagreed and didn't give a reason obviously has no experince in the industry, I know that through my experince in the industry, not out my ass like some fanboy.
Where's Itagaki at? He's probably the only game developer in the industry who would say something and not give a damn about the repricutions.
Its not hard to do any of that stuff, if your a moderatly "trafficed" site PR companies are willing to help you out with interviews and such.
The nicer PR firms are even willing to help out small blogs with their requests, build a good relationship with a companies PR and getting into E3 is easy.
Thanks to the power of Windows Media Extender you can run a browser on your 360, I've done it before, it was a nice but not something I would ever use even if it was native.
Xbox Originals and Steam really gave the game new life hence said news topics.
Unreal actually did better on PC and PS3, although the Xbox 360 version didn't do bad either, as a whole the game didn't do as well as the previous ones in the series did.
HipHop, the profitable numbers studios skew out are a bit misleading, here are a few reasons:
1. Using your example of Take Two, their biggest title this quarter was Bioshock for the PS3, they didn't bring out any major quarter exclusive for the 360, Wii, PC, etc hence the statement that the PS3 is their most profitable for the quarter.
2. This is more so with attach rates and I'm not 100% sure companies use the same logic when determining profitablility but cons...
Are these the reports they do right after the launch of a anticipated title only to retract their statement when the hype behind the title dies down in the coming weeks?
The Japanese were too busy laughing at the worlds low HDTV adoption rate to do anything. :O
In all seriousness, Banjo was probably patched because it was a first party title.
Free Radical is still in the game, their still around, in administrative mode making it highly plausible for a comeback.
Considering the layoffs at Sony that would have been unthinkable, not only to the bean counters but imagine how the 10k+ who are being layed of in the coming weeks would feel if they get laid off and wake up next morning with their RSS readers front headline saying "Sony Acquires Studio X in million dollar deal".
Not the best list to be honest, I'm surprised no Alan Wake! Microsoft also stated they have a few announcements coming in 09 so these lists are kinda useless when their could POTENTIALLY be something better on the horizon.
These guys should just listen to Acclaim and adopt a ad service and make the game free to play, it's a good game after all and a free download no subscription model will ensure it gets the attention it deserves as well as make NCSoft money on the side.
Also factor in the universal developer excuse into the equation, it goes something like this:
"The Xbox 360 Will Upscale Everything to 1080p", I believe the PS3 also upscales content but not "natively" meaning it has to be coded in if I recall. This makes developers lazy which is a shame!
