I don't think this person knows the difference between GFW and GFWL, unless I read something wrong titles like Call of Duty: World at War, X-Blades, Empire: Total War, etc are all GFW and not GFWL like this author is saying.
Steam is basically online store 2.0, while GFW is PC Gaming 2.0, both have excelled in their own fields greatly, I mean GFW brought renewed interest in PC gaming from both developer and gamer while Steam and Valve innovated digital distribution. That fact that Valve was able to run laps around sales with L4D's price drop is proof enough.
Le Idiotce: Its already been confirmed 12 people out of a whopping 200 will be affected by cuts or department changes. They could restructure to make it a well oiled machine so to speaking, with each dev team pulling out a project every year, ex,
Year 1: Dev Team 1
Year 2: Dev Team 2
Year 3: Dev Team 3
Year 4: Dev Team 1
Year 5: Dev Team 2
etc etc
And FYI, when the restructuring news broke it was already confirmed Rare h...
Not exactly, people have been ripping Blu Ray games for the PS3 since launch IIRC, not sure if their is a way to play them back on the PS3 though, didn't they run a hello world script on it in 07?
Edit: DCEMU has a few hacks (downgraders, exploits, etc) although I haven't looked into them much.
VG Chartz should be taken with a grain of salt, they have been wrong many times in the past by a wide margin.
Pirates?
Basically what they've tried to do here was use the momentum of the out of context Wheelman controversy and run a editorial quoting developers and other industry people about the PS3 and how its a pain to program for.
It definitely raises the bar for console graphics thats for sure, from the videos I have seen it reminds me a bit of GRAW when you set the options to first person view. Of course GRAW really wasn't built with first person cover and such in mind.
Pretty good review, I for one am going to give it a go as many others are.
Metal Gear is a much older franchise even if you count the Marathon series. So is Mario, your point?
It definitely is a good year for the PSP but with all these rumors from even major gaming sites and developers saying the PSP 2 is coming this year, what if development of said titles is shifted?
E3 09: "This is a great year for the PSP, with titles like LittleBigPlanet, Altairs Chronicles, etc we are positive sales will increase. Guess what? These games won't be coming to the PSP, they'll be coming to the PSP 2! (pulls it out of his pocket).
It could happ...
Blizzard will definitely secure cash for the company in the long run, although Activision is trying new things after analysts have warned the sequel formula could get stale fast, it will be interesting to see if this holds up next year.
Hunh???? The original Xbox is still bringing in revenue for Activision, with what?!?!? DLC, XBLA???
One good year and already the PS3 fansites are calling it a win? At least wait till the Xbox 720, PS4, etc before looking back and say, "Hey who really brought to the table" or at the most the end of this year. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for titles like Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 (I'm a sucker for stuff that deals with the past :p), etc
Its already been confirmed Rare is coming out with 4 new projects this year, I assume the two new Ensemble studios will have someth...
I got min for $40 at The Source, 2 days ago, it was on clearance, I want to get the DLC as well in a bit.
LOL! "You know it's bad when even the hot USO chicks get it."
Other then that the review seems to fit, wasn't the first one a historically accurate Vietnam war game? If so how the hell did Eidos think of this monstrosity?
Although I really hate Eidos after they screwed over Core Design (the same studio that put Eidos on the map) its nice to see them do well after so long. I'm not sure I want Square to acquire them, usually nothing good comes from such things, especially if they rename Eidos to something like Square Enix UK. If the Free Radical buyout shows anything, people don't give a damn about name recognition, just ips.
Why do you find that hard to believe? Especially considering the recent pricedrop and the fact that it is on almost every platform known to man?
That review was so indepth and eye opening, she is obviously in the wrong line of work and should change career's immediately....
Although I will be buying this review regardless because the Tom Clancy series is solid, this review isn't very indepth...
