Agreed. It kind of becomes an endless loop: Kill beasts so you can get better items, so you can kill tougher beasts, so you can get better items, so you can kill tougher beasts, so you can...
How could you possibly know that? Ever played it? Didn't think so. For all any of us know this could be the surprise hit of the year.
Why are you using a screenshot from Oddworld for a review of Limbo..?
Tough genre to get right. Too bad.
Why so defensive? All I said was that this was clearly a matter of OPINION, not FACT. You're entitled to an opinion.
Why did I specificy Naughty Dog? Allow me to quote from your article:
"...no it’s not Naughty Dog, it’s British developers Media Molecule..." The clear implication is that Little Big Planet is (from the title of the article) 'better' than Uncharted. You may prefer it, and that's your right, but it doesn't make one ...
This is clearly opinion based on personal preference. Glossing over Naughty Dog so that you can cite Media Molecule is kinda laughable, but then Naughty Dog is American, so that would have pretty seriously undermined your 'point', wouldn't it?
Besides, most big developers aren't limited by nationalistic boundaries, and have studios in multiple countries.
I actually bagged groceries for a while when I was kid. Wasn't nearly as much fun as this might lead you to believe...
TEN YEARS LATER:
Son still lives with father, and still plays his old, beat-up 360, because working the fryer at the local buger joint doesn't earn him enough money to pay rent or buy a new console... all because he thought gaming was more important than education.
Father looks at his son and regrets not confiscating console when son was 13. Writes a hastily scribbled suicide note...
Well, that's ignorant and racist. I guess we know who's not "playing" dumb...
So... this was going on for months, but this guy didn't look over his credit card statement until AFTER he was declined for insufficient funds?
Gee, I wonder where the kid gets his lack of fiscal responsibility..?
I can honestly say I never did. The ESRB didn't exist when I was a kid, so there weren't any ratings.
P&Cs seed to be a fairly cyclical genre. Right now, after quite a long time with very few titles, we seem to be getting a flood of them. I would bet that a year or two from now they'll be out of fashion again.
Genuinely funny... can't wait to see more.
@Rufus:
What worls do I live in? This one... you know, the one where ratings scales go from 1 to 10, not 5 to 10. Ratings of 9 and 10 are reserved for extraordinary, absolutely must play titles.
This scale is pretty standard for the industry.
I think you misunderstand the rating system. "Mediocre" would be in the 4.5 to 5.5 range. 7.5 is classified as "Great".
I encountered one bug (which I detailed in the review), but it was more annoying than anything else. I didn't run into any broken sidequests like I did in the original game. If you're a Skyrim fan (as it appears you are) I definitely recommend it.
I just hope that if you're lying on your belly in thick bushes, and you kill a guy 50 yards away with a silenced rifle it doesn't immediately alert every enemy in a half-mile radius to your exact location... Learn from the mistakes of Farcry 2, Ubisoft!
This article feels like it's the start of a much longer article... then it just stops.
I grew up during a time when multiplayer meant passing the controllser to the person at the other end of the couch. I like multiplayer, but for me the single=player experience will always be the primary draw. Good stories are almost impossible to create with multiple anonymous protagonists...
Thank you, sir... I try.
