I'm not a big fan of the series myself, but I'm not so arrogant as to think that my opinion should supercede those of all the fans.
@LiquidSword:
I have a feeling this is going to be like trying to explain consumer electronics to a parakeet, but I'm going to try anyway.
'Gameplay mechanics' by definition are the ways in which a player controls, interacts with, or influences the game world. Examples include:
-Moving your character
-Aiming and shooting
-Vehicular control
-Using items
-Picking locks/hacking computers
-Climb...
What an incredibly lazy... did you call this an article? I't just a series of screen shots... no discussion of 'why' the games are difficult? Shameless...
Why should I give weight to the opinion of someone who couldn't even follow the plot in San Andreas?
I guess I was unclear. What I meant was that it's definitely one of my GOTY contenders... if it weren't for the releases of AC3 and some other games which require my attention for review purposes, I'd still be playing it.
The only truly "broken mechanic" is the god-awful 'cover system' (as they call it). The camera's a little bit flighty at times (though a lot of those issues were fixed with the recent patch), but it's far from broken... just uncooperative in tight spaces.
Neither the visuals (which may not have appealed to YOU, but were presented well) nor the set pieces constitute 'game mechanics'.
Thank you for playing this, so I don't have to. Not that I WOULD have had to, but still...
How is it that an article telling us nothing except that they're going to write an article gets this much attention?
House on morning balloon.
Look... I can string random words together too!
What if bulldozers were made of cheese?
I read an interview with Randy Pitchford from Gearbox talking about Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Wii U, and he seemed completely in love with both the console and the tech. Let's hope that's a hint of things to come.
Hey, whadday know... I can actually log in to N4G again!
This is definitely one of my top contenders.
I personally enjoyed the game, but there were a lot of issues that I felt detracted from what could have been a more enjoyable experience.
Great choice for a fun, light co-op experience.
A bit on the easy sife (got 100% in about four days), but far and away the best sandbox crime game I've played in a LONG time.
My point is that, unless Legend of Kage is available on XBL Indie Games (which it's NOT) then this story is highly improbable.
Games like this make me wish I had a better PC.
What, did he also 'mistake' putting a cartridge into an NES for selecting the title from the quickplay menu on his XBox? I believe I detect the aroma of bovine fecal matter...
There are certainly a lot of similarities, but Portal is the clear winner in my mind.
The big difference is that Portal was very intuitive. This concept doesn't have any logic behind it... there's no way to instinctively understand what's expected of you.
I'm with you in putting this in the 'pass' column.
