I will always prefer a direction display connection, and to this day still don't have reliable or low latency enough ISP to allow for a solid or enjoyable experience. I think a lot(some) of people claiming it's amazing are compromising for the novelty/convenience.
The Phat models, especially the original were prone to overheating, no way at this time you could get one where you could use it for PS2 AND heavy PS3 gaming(which would cause it to malfunction at some point).. It's just a novelty now. So, why... ? Only collection/hobby, and definitely not practicality.
Just get a PS2............ Maybe if you're collecting, though.
Wasn't it at revision one? lol
Laziness, greediness, ignorance, obliviousness?
what's in front of it.
Remaster.........?
I assure you that is not the least they could do, but it is what these games deserve at the very least.
I think you will be able to play them, but doesn't necessarily mean they'll have trophy support, but yes IF they are patched to support trophies, you will be able to unlock them with you're previously purchased digital versions.
They didn't give us a remake, just a trash remaster.
My friend's dad was a Navy seal, he saw me doing a sliding jump 180 quick scope. And said he did that once in 'nam.
Too many, too poor 😳. Hopefully Premium has a good collection to start off with. Wish we could emulate from disc, I have a few and a friend with 100s, would be so nostalgic to borrow a retro game again.
Which classics? Could you be thinking of the PS2 games(Arc the Lad, Dark Cloud, Ape Escape 2)? Those were not regular classics, they had to be altered.
Oh man, this is what I was hoping for, this could be a thing.

Sure would be nice. But PSP games playable on home console platform is new, who knows, the library could grow.
@Profchaos
Pretty short BC list, though. "not charging" is appreciated, and they aren't charging if you own the asset DIGITALLY. but the fact is, they had so long to try and support BC, and they really have no excuse. It's been a blunder since the second revision of PS3(removed PS2 hardware).
They could, but they don't. I want what Xbox has offered with BC X360 on XB1. I know that they have a much harder transition with how complicated PS3 hardware was made, but there has been groundwork covered on PC with non-Sony engineers... Like come on.
The list looks pretty limited. You can find the "incomplete" list on PS Blog. From my deduction, it's going to be emulation.

I was hoping for PS3 emulation. But it's not likely, so therefore, your PS3 digital purchases will not be playable on PS4 or PS5 unless they are offered through cloud streaming on their service, for which still you'd have to pay.. your digital license is moot unless you're playing on an actual PS3.
Component cables worked great for me, I do have one of the slim ps2 models, though. You can grab a cheap crt but shipping will be expensive and their brightness degrades. Nothing will beat playing PS2 on a CRT. Even upscaled PC emulation just exposes the age. Wish some technology like CRT could co exist with LCD and OLED, but for retro gaming.. and shit.. maybe could make older more recent gen games look decent again.
