The scalability tech is improving so it may allow it for a couple of generations down the line.
But yes I suspect that eventually the current games in the future wont work with this gens consoles.
But what they are really saying is that you wont need to worry about current games carrying to next gen consoles.
Because it will be forward compatible. Which means you never have to give up your games or keep an old console to play those games.

Halo 4 actually got me interested in the Halo Universe, Master Cheif and Cortana relationship.
It was for me the best campaign out of all the halos.
So I know full well that 343 can deliver if they focus on both elements. They already got the MP down. They need to make sure their campaign is on the same level.
