the progression system alone should be enough to convince reviewers to shit on the game. It is a terrible practice and terrible game system.

I believe you're misinformed. You need to open lootboxes for leveling your different roles. I may be wrong but i believe thats the process.
And the big problem is that you need credits and credits are quite the chore to attain not to mention everyone gets equal amounts...therefore the normal progression in the game is the same for everyone. Grind, grind and grind. ...or get tired and start shelling out the green stuff.

I agree with you but it doesnt mean the outlet is paid if they dont place those. I really like and disliked BOTW and wouldnt have given it so high and therefore would put it in any list for GOTY. My big problem was the dungeons....gone are the dungeons from previous zeldas...now we get puzzles...yay.

Best vs Profitability is really the difference here. They are consistently the most profitable so yes...best in the sense of profit...which is why it will continue like this for quite some time.
Phil has nothing to do with it. He isnt forcing other devs to put it in. He simply sees the trend. And, just like sony, is putting small microtransactions into their games.
The problem is the bigger publlishers, EA, Ubi, Activision. These guys control the heading of the gaming industry much more then little phil.

Ori, Cuphead, Child of Light, RE7 and senaus sacrifice amongst others are proof that the budget doesnt need to be that big for a good game to be released.
Obviously a talented team produces more talented work. Not all devs are equal.
Destiny isnt the only game doing this kind of unrewarding thing.
Heard about battlefront 2? Those lootboxes control everything and the credits you earn are equal to everyone else's, no matter how much better you performed.

Games are art. And you can be offended. Say a game decides to state that all blacks are not human. I can see some taking offense to that. They just need to see past that to the plot or the point of the game and not singling out the lines and topics used to tell the story.
But yes they can be offensive. But even a bird can be offensive by crashing into someones head. Just be a mature adult and move on. Just a matter of not letting the offense get to you.
