Digital usually ends up selling about 30-50% of what retail does. So for 1 million retail normally theres 250-500 thousand in digital.
That said this is only UK so not sure how good that is.

Price should have nothing to do with a review. Price doesnt improve a game in any way. Just makes it cheaper or more expensive that is all.
That said, the reviewer mentioned the leaf section. Those attacks dont look random to me at all. It looks like he starts at the bottom and then slowly attacks up.

60 fps would be the best option period. Regardless of resolution.
4k is overrated. Even if they get it to a steady 30fps by launch it still is better to play at 60 fps.
I take 60fps over anything else.
I feel that they should rethink their decision and let him work there. It is clear he has the passion. Under the right motivation Im sure it would benefit 343 Industries. Passion drives success and they just crushed it because of some silly comments that read with a normal mind is clearly an exaggeration.

No need. Most iterations have self contained stories. Not necessary. But if you like them I definitely recommend at least playing Ys1 and 2.

Affordable games can still be very profitable.
I think that devs are focusing to much on the triple AAA budget and strategy and forgetting that they can make just as much profit and just as good a game if they focus on simply making a good game instead of skyrocketing the production values.

If youre into MP give the arena a go. You wont be disappointed. Its frankly my favourite competitive fps apart from counter strike.
