If you want to play PS2 games...buy a PS2. I see the PS2 as dropping to $100 this fall. It makes sense the PS3 is losing PS2 functionality. Sony is giving us the choice of whether we want to play PS2 games or not and passing the savings on to us. Oh...and buy a Logitech wireless controller; it rivals the dual shock 2.

I wouldn't call it of benefit to Sony that 3 top tier games are coming out during the same time. Naturally, gamers are going to spend money on the one game they want most. In the case of PS3 or multi-platform gamers they have too many choices in comparison to 360 users. Speaking of world wide totals, PS3 outsells the 360 by 50,000 every month consistently....How long would it take PS3 to catch up if the 360 already leads by 7 million worldwide? Providing that the 360 still owns the US AND UK market how much more does the PS3 need to sell in other markets to make up the difference? Two questions of the same ilk both phrased differently. I own a PS3 and Xbox; each online service has its strengths and weaknesses. The PS3 offers many original games for download. Everyday Shooter and Calling All Cars are just two of them. Microsoft would not lose money by selling a blu-ray add on. It would only cost them a slight fee for licensing which would be off set by the price. Your logic is pretty flawed. Sony has sold 100 million plus PS2 hardware systems...yes. However, if you look at the software sales data, 100 million plus consoles isn't making quite an impact.
