MSFT has done a lot of bad M&A in the past, but spending $2bbn on a low tech, 1 hit wonder game maker would take the cake. Unless these guys have some really good patents on some critical technology. Minecraft isn't exactly screaming for a sequal.
$2bbn is 4x what they plan to spend on Destiny over 10 years.
Who CARES? Bring the GAMES!! I looked at the side-by-sides for GTA PS3 vs PS4, and while there are noticeable differences, the game plays exactly the same. If increasing GPU power 8x from 1 gen to the next does nothing to make the game more fun to play, what is a 10% or 20% boost going to do??? Stop worrying about the PS4 being able to push a few extra pixels. Games are what matter.
While their is an obvious difference, it's not enough to justify rebuying the game.

As long as Xbone is selling as many units as 360, developers will be happy to make games for it. MCC, SO, FH2 provide a solid holliday line up to keep Xbone ahead of 360.
Congrats to Sony on the PS4 success. They really needed it. If PS4 failed Sony would have ceased to exist.
Sony and MSFT shouldn't be worrying about how many boxes the other guy sells. They should be worried about this being the last generation ...
This looks cool but LOTRO will always be the BEST LOTR game. Not a great MMO though.
Stop trying to argue the details! PS$ has sold a lot more consoles and even though Sony fans buy a lot less games - they will still sell more copies of almost EVERYTHING. I am an XBOX fan - we do not need to fight this fight. Its about EXCLUSIVES.
Sounds like DDO where you have a bunch of missions that launch out of hubs. In DDO the missions mechanics are awesome and vert nostalgic, but the lack of a real world, kills it. Swotor is a bit like this too.

So much speculation on this launch, none of it seems to agree. The leaked benchmarks show the 980 barely beating a 780 forget the Ti. That had me almost buy a 295x2 because you can get $800 off the $1500 MSRP at ibuypower. So 2x980 for 2x500 would be pointless. But if we get 30% over a 780ti then it will be a great SLI even at 2x$600. I need resolution ASAP. Also Devils Canyon or Haswell-E? I'm talking overclocked, but stable with good but not crazy cooling. I've seen conflict...
OMFG Xbone dips to 28fps While PS4 stays at 30!!! What a MASSIVE difference in power.
The fact is that 40%-50% more shaders etc gives you a 20% boost in resolution due to the need for more pixels in each direction. An when playing a game at 30 for or 60 fps, the difference between 1080p and 920p is unnoticeable.
The difference between these 2 boxes is 100% based on which exclusives you prefer. There is no right choice or wrong choice. The WiiU is 60 less ...
None of these will even go platinum.
I thought this would be getting almost universal 9s and 10s. I'm stunned. Small group of people think it's the best game ever. And equal number think it's crap. Seems to be settling out at a 6 or 7. That's not enough to get it through Xmas with MCC SO and LOTR coming out.
Game is getting very tepid reviews by actual players. This doesn't seem like it has legs to Christmas much less 10 years. MCC will make it obsolete, and SO/LOTR seem a lot more fun.
Every one in the investment community knows Cramer is an idiot! The reason he is on TV is that he destroyed his hedge fund. He lost 87% in 2001 and none of his top 10 positions is still a company. The reason they are doing this is because they are putting to use some of the TENS of billions in offshore cash they have that they cant use to pay dividends or buy back stock. Its a TAX GAME.

Every one knows the Cloud is an old Apple 2 GS hooked to the Internet with a 2400 baud modem. This HARDLY makes up for the 4,000,000x power difference between the PS4 and Xbone. X BOX version will be 22p and run at 2 fps.
I think people don't understand that MSFT would prefer not to be in the hardware business. It looses $$, just look at Sony. They are only in it because they want to control the living room. They would prefer to be able to sell you a $50 streaming box with an Arm chip in it. The technology just isn't there YET. But it is getting there quickly. The hardware in the One is more then sufficient to handle streaming as the software and infrastructure get to the point where you don'...
That will never happen with local hardware. You will always be able to build a bigger, faster machine. Only cloud or streaming software can make this happen, because then you actually have a big bad as machine running things.
What resolution does it run at?
Compare the fake hype around Destiny created by Bungee and Sony marketing $$ and threatening reviewers, to the groundswell of excitement around LOTR. Looks like LOTR has a shot at GOTY (assuming you can't give it to a remaster like MCC). Destiny couldn't possibly live up to the expectations of a $500mm game. Much like SWTOR or Duke Nukem.
