Author is clueless. This has nothing to do with Xbox/PS4. This has to do with really detailed, uncompressed textures. Just look at fully nodded Skyrim. It needs 3gb+. Trust me I have 2x5870 and while I have the grunt of a 7970 ghz edition, I can't run Skyrim in Ultra due to 1gb of VRAM. I get like 1FPS. Nvidia and AMD knew this was coming and have been putting 3/4/6/8 gb on their new cards, but people ripped them for it. 8 core CPUs are also going to become more useful for gaming....
Piracy is theft, it is illegal and no different then shop lifting. Pirates should get jail time not just fines. Buying used games is 100% legal. If the game companies want to make it harder by taking away online features, or using subscriptions/digital/DLC fine. But that disclosure is yours to sell as you like.
MSFT has an investment in Facebook, so they could go that route to VR. But I think they will wait another 5-10 years. MSFT is not a first mover. Highly doubtful. PS4 is nowhere near powerful enough. VR needs 1080p to each eye at OVER 60 FPS. PS5 should be capable, but Sony will probably go bankrupt before that. And console gamers dont start buying en mass until the console gets under $200. Sony fans will not fork out $300-$400 for an add on to a $400 console. And even if they don't sell Playstation to Google, Apple or Amazon, the inability of the PS4 to deliver a good VR experience at a low price will result in the project g...
IMO we don't need Kinetic games, we need more games with Kinetic enhancements. Being able to call audibles and timeouts in Madden, voice control of your NAV system in FH2, or simple multiplayer chat are all good examples. Sure they could be done with a cheaper mic, but millions of us already have a Kinect.
Are there any non-mobile video cards with 6gb currently? I know they plan on launching a 980 with 8gb but who knows when.
I think this is awesome. I've been telling people next gen games and 4k will need a lot of gpu RAM. Guess I will wait to get my new PC until I can get an 8gb card.
Nintendo needs to totally change its model. It can't compete in the highend, and it's best IP doesn't need that much horsepower to be fun to play. Focus everything on cutting the cost to make the console. Get it down so you can retail for $50-$100. Work with Google to fix your online, streaming and social capabilities. Google wants a $50 streaming box that plays android games, why can't it play Wii U games too? Focus on cheap fun and your IP.
