"LOL at M$ with their report on the NPD data with an article to state the the Xbox brand (Total XB360 + XBone) was the software sales winner for January. Nothing to do with a PR attempt to soften the blow somewhat"
They must have learned it from Sony over the past 6 years. Sony PR used to talk about sales of the "Playstation Family", which at the time included PS2, PS3, and PSP. They did this to hide the real numbers when they had a poor sales month.
"Now normal gamers are coming in and it seems like most of them are doing their research when choosing."
I wonder, did you feel the same way last generation when the roles were reversed?
I'm not saying it was you, but nearly every time an NPD article came out between 2008-2013 it was filled with people saying ridiculous things like "Dumb sheep only look at the price tag. That's the only reason Xbox 360 is selling better than PS3"....
@DragonKnight
"Sony were going to release the PS4 at $400 regardless of the camera or not. The only reason they didn't release it with the camera is because they didn't want to take the bigger hit by including it."
It doesn't matter what they were GOING to do. Sony didn't do it, and MS did. Doesn't change the FACT that there's more hardware included with an Xbox One than with a PS4, and that's the reason for the price d...
We'll see when Drive Club comes out. If DC keeps is beautiful graphics without having to massively downgrade it's framerate to 30, then we'll know DC is technically superior.
If, however, DC needs to run at half of Forza's 60fps in order to maintain it's graphics, we'll know there's little or no difference between the two.
"Killzone outsold all of those games worldwide."
Which is not even relevant since this is an article about U.S. numbers.
Huge graphical downgrade?
Forza 5's supposed downgrade is like downgrading a filet mignon to a top sirloin. It's still by far the best looking racer ever made, and it's better than a 30fps Mcdonalds hamburger any day.
It will be very interesting to see if a developer can produce a PS4 racer at 1080p/60fps like Forza 5. One thing's for sure though - if a PS4 exclusive racer is 30fps, you PS fans will defend it to death by saying how good it l...
I know you don't want to hear it, but it will only get better from here. Look at Forza 2, then look at Forza 4. They look like they are from different generations, despite being on the same hardware.
PS fans like you are falling all over themselves trying to downplay Forza 5's performance because Forza 5 is doing (as a launch title) what PS fans have been trying to tell us is impossible on Xbox One. When the next Forza comes out, it will almost certainly redefine...
Maybe they'll show up as soon as the people who hated VGChartz for the past 7 years show up. You know, the people who said things like:
"VGCharts is run by some fat kid who lives in his parent's basement"
"He was banned on NeoGaf for making up fake numbers"
Funny how so many people are now here in defense of VGChartz. I guess they've suddenly become 100% accurate over the past few months.
We all know that the biggest system selling exclusive franchises are Halo and Gears of War. There's no disputing that. However, if it makes you feel better to declare victory BEFORE the biggest franchises hit the Xbox One, go right ahead. You're the one grabbing at the last possible straws.
"Rinse and repeat"? Are you joking? PS4's biggest title so far is Killzone 4. The next exclusive will be Infamous 3. At least Titanfall is a new IP.
...
Right, because we all know that console races are sprints, not marathons.
Well we're at it, we might as well just give the Stanley Cup to the team that's in first place right now. No need to play an entire season - let's just declare a winner before all the games are played.
@Hooters
Xbox brand - 25 million to 80 million
Playstation brand - 150 million to 80 million
You can ramble on and on about what "place" each finished. It's all you've got to distract the uninformed masses from the numbers that REALLY matter. Same with duplicate purchases from RROD. You have ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE to back up your opinion, but the uninformed masses will gladly agree with you so you can all sleep better at night thi...
Here's a blog you should read as this author actually did some research:
http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...
Despite PS fans being in an uproar over Polygon's review of "Last of Us", there is no proof of any bias from their overall body of reviews. You were simply swept up in the mindless mob mentality that's prevalent whenever someone doesn't give a Sony exclusive a pe...
As mind boggling as it is that you actually believe those delusional conspiracy theories, I guess you'll have to believe the media from now on. After all, if the so called "media bias" has now been fully unraveled, all that's left should be trustworthy journalists and sites.
Of course, something tells me that the "media bias" nonsense will continue to show up whenever something is reported that you don't want to hear or believe. That leaves a...
Since console manufacturers report only shipped numbers in their official financial reports, I'd have to go with shipped.
Sold (to consumer) numbers are never official, although some tracking services can be pretty accurate for certain regions.
Well, it's clearly on pace to exceed 5 million sales by the end of March, which was the target benchmark for success that I kept reading about a few months ago. Having sold 3.9 million in its first six weeks, I'm quite certain MS can sell 1.1 million more Xbox One's over the next 13 weeks.
Sure, PS4 will certainly sell more for now, but MS still has the two biggest system-selling franchises in it's back pocket - Halo & Gears of War. There are many great ...
@Manic
You are 100% right. Dedicatedtogamers seems to want to continue to do the same things he condemns others for doing by saying:
"You're part of the problem. I just said that it's wrong to look back at something someone said and use it against them".
He clearly pulled a NintendoToo, but he seems to think it's wrong of you to point it out because it means you had to look at his comment history. Pretty convenient. ...
I was around (not here, but around) during PS3's launch.
Many PS3 fans did the same thing that dedicatedtogamers is accusing MS fans of doing now - they pretended nothing was wrong and talked up the PS3's positives while ignoring the negatives.
@TristanPR77
What you fail to convey is that that the U.S. is nearly as large as every other gaming country combined. Trying to portray the U.S. as just 1 of 100 equal size rooms is misleading at best, and flat out lying at worst.
Such short memories. It's no different than how Sony supporters just want to know that the PS3 ended up outselling the 360 despite Sony previously outselling MS by a 6:1 margin. The U.S. was PS2's hometurf until 360 ripped it away. People weren't interested in the how's and why's - all they cared about was that "Sony won".
Face it, PS3 eventually outselling 360 was like an NFL team needing a last second field goal to beat a high school team. ...
@DragonKnight - you mean a comment like this? Not yours, but just an example.
"What? It has no low resolution, multiplayer only, 6v6 bot fest with no destruction in the environment? Certainly that kind of performance is not worthy of the ps4. It fits in perfectly with what the bone has offered to date, however. No wonder those who own the xbone are excited about it. It's more of the same mediocrity they have been playing for years. Those of us who own multiple conso...
