I disagree with you about Oblivion. I can't think of a better game. And Mass Effect, while flawed, offered the most compelling human interaction I've ever seen in a game, which helps inspire all devs down the line. And every game on the Orange Box was a monumental human achievement. At the very least, you have to applaud Valve for their ability to convey highly emotional stories IN ENGINE, and their proficiency with physics and pacing.
You know what they say about opinion...
You make a fair point. To be honest, I just thought to myself, "If the FPS genre moved the graphical ball forward, and if Japanese devs don't make a lot of FPS games, then maybe that explains this gap I've been hearing about so much lately... and from the Japanese themselves!" But I agree... I'd love to see the West adopt some of the techniques I see in Japanese titles like the sweeping, opulent cutscenes, and the premium many of the devs seem to place on absolutely perfect presen...
Cool... I hadn't seen that one yet.
Yeah, the Blue Ray is like a huge garage filled with hundreds of cars, but limited to only one lane for the cars to come and go. What's the point of all the storage if you can't get the data out of there in a timely manner. Oh well, at least Sony wisely included hard drives in each PS3, unlike MS, who had the right idea last gen but seemed to have forgotten about how awesome the ability to rely on the HD was.
...you should try cruising the retirement homes the next time you want to get some stanky on your hang-down. She could tie those things in a bow, yo!
Yes, it's a great, great game that knocked my socks off. This article has some good ideas of things to try... I really want to find that in-game kiddie porn site.
God, I hope the real FBI knows I'm talking about the fake intertet lol.
Yeah, I totally am familiar with STEAM... it's my preffered way to buy games, actually. I merely suggested that STEAM is going to be the model for how everyone buys ALL games in the future. Hell, all media will be online, and stores will be relics for your grandparents.
Wow, way to take a neutral, fun-loving post and turn it into a wedge for fanboyism.
Look I'm all for prettier remakes, but the article calls for new controls. I mean, I know I'm personally concerned about playing the new Street Fighter with it's 3 puch/kick buttons. Aside from an expensive fighting stick, this 3 button system doesn't gel with modern controllers. I put medium punch/kick on the triggers, but it just feels bad to me. I wish devs would come up with another way to play the game, because asking gamers to pay hundreds for expensive joysticks is out of the ques...
My girlfriend is gorgeous, tolerant of my gaming, and quite fond of my writing, thank you very much. And I'll take a water-based lube over baby oil any day of the week.
OMG! Some guy bought a PS3 to play GTA IV! Microsoft must really be in trouble lol.
Sure there are people who want to get a next gen console just to play GTA, but honestly, just as many if not more people will pick up a 360 under similar circumstances. The premise of this article is all conjecture.
thanks for the clarification. Ill fix the article (later... it's Friday! Wheeeeee!)
Fair enough. But as many people on this board have already noted, it is a slight improvement over the DualShock 2's rumble. Not a huge improvement, but it's certainly noticable. Honestly, I think the degree to which it's better is largely in the hands of the software developers.
And about the semantic issue you raise- vibration, force-feedback, and rumble are all interchangable terms in my lexicon. What's the difference in your mind? (Honestly I'd like to know)
I wrote the article to explore claims that the rumble was 'next gen'. When I talked with Konami at CES, they went on and on about how much better the new controller was, and I wanted to put those claims to the test. Conclusion: Better than DualShock 2, but not radically different than what gamers have come to expect.
If you think the DualShock 3 feels exactly like the DualShock 2, then I question that you ever had one. It's a distinct improvement... just it's not several o...
If you can find a more in depth DualShock 3 'hands on' article, I'd love to see it.
And for the record, it's been out 4 months in Japan.
What do you mean by that comment? Do you mean the big 3 are all imitating each other like the politicians, or what?
You know I always thought it was funny when Sony said that rumble and tilt controls couldn't be done in one controller at a reasonable price, despite the fact that Nintendo's Wiimote combined both of those features.
You're pretty certain given that you havn't tried it yet. It remains to be seen how Home will work after they conclude the beta. Being hopeful is one thing... but right now you just sound over confident.
I think sidar is taking issue with the title more than anything. The article itself is actually pretty funny and sincere.
It reads like a wish list of desired features. That's how I took it, anyway.
You nailed it. The console war is a joke.
...then you've horribly contradicted yourself about how awesome the Japanese developers are. What? Did you just read the title and respond without having read the article?
This was meant to illuminate Kojima's recent statements, which are being echoed by numerous other Japanese devs from a variety of game houses. If you click on the red text scattered in the article, you'll see that the Japanese devs feel that they've lost the lead in using high end graphics. And I wholehear...
