Ha. I love seeing comments like this, because it's absolutely true.
I'm currently playing RD2, and its great. It's an impressive game. It might possibly end up being one of the best I've ever played by the time I finish it. But you know what? I look around on the tiny screen in front of me (it's not tiny, it's 40 inch) and I feel limited. Restricted by the view. I want to get closer. Peer in. I wish it was in VR.
I'm taking the...
Aye, mate. Know what you call that? A control pad.
Doesn't matter the game, if you are aiming with an analogue stick and expecting razor sharp reaction and accuracy, then you're on cloud coo-coo land.
You have to through a long animation? What? It literally takes 2 bloody seconds for him to physically turn around a body (if they are prostrate) and grab his shit.
Compare this to literally every single RPG where you have to loot a corpse, you still have to scroll through what you want to take and what to leave. If you aren't used to this by now, then you haven't played enough games with RPG elements to them.
Swear to god, Rockstar puts out a gam...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand guess what?
You can still do all of that if you want.
Seriously, people bitching about stuff added in for detail that actually fleshes out a game. If all of these things weren't in the game, people would bitch about it being vapid, boring and repetitive also. Dry your bulbs. What the fuck happened to people when just buying and enjoying the game for what it is was enough? Everyone these days is entitled as much as they are easily offen...
That or he's been sniffing glue again.
Gaming news in more powerful hardware runs games better shocker!
Stealing a living.
They have IP's just sitting there begging to have some kind of investment injected into them. Instead MS has zero interest and lets them languish. I mean, look what they did with Conker FFS.There's Battletoads, Conker, Banjo, Perfect Dark. Those are the main ones just waiting to be revived, but MS sits on them doing nothing.I know Battletoads is supposed to have something coming, but the odds on that being some kind of shit HD remake of sorts are high. It's not about the developer...
MS really need to let Rare go. Maybe Nintendo could buy them back and encourage them to start making games again.
Is it doomed? Hopefully. But I don't think so.
Maybe this game needs to fail to make companies like DICE and EA rethink their policies and concentrate on actually making a good game instead of insulting the fanbase, making the games worse with forced in microtransactions and trying to chase the current gravy train trend, aka Fortnite. It's not about making a game good anymore. It's about maximising profit. Hope it crashes and burns.
There's no way in hell it's 50% ai and physics. More like 80% favouring graphics animations and other stuff.
Yep.
AI and actual game design. You know AI takes up literally kb's on a game's size. It's probably the most under developed aspect of gaming, and hasn't improved, and has probably gone backwards as each gen gets introduced.
I was thinking more along the lines of Father Ted quotes, but OK.
Down with this sort of thing.
And by your wonky logic, so is your game console, your DS4, and even your TV. Phone? Yeah, that's a gimmick too.
Here's the fact:
If gaming is intended to immerse you, then you can't get more immersive than playing a game in VR. That's not even up for debate.
Right and wrong. Mostly wrong.
VR is niche, yes, but temporarily so. VR has already reached the tipping point in terms of investment and R&D, and also in certain circles and markets. Its roughly where gaming was almost 40 years ago with the likes of intellivision and Atari. It is not going anywhere.
You can tell instantly the people who haven't put a headset on before.
No one (and I mean no one) that I've come across, or known, or shown, has not been blown away once they try out a proper HMD like a Vive or PSVR. Idiots like above will talk balls about it because they think it's Kinect with a 3d TV strapped to your face. The reality is, you put that headset on, and the real world vanishes and you're inside the game as if you're environment around yo...
Roughly translated
"Hi, I'm jonivtec. When it comes to VR, I really don't have a clue what the f*ck I'm talking about, because I haven't tried it yet, so I'll talk bollocks about it by making laughable comparisons to 3d TV."
Hello. Time traveller here.
LOL @ the morons in the comments section as per usual when an article about VR like this pops up, they take the opportunity to spout their misjudged, deluded nonsense on it.
"I saw, like many others, this death of VR coming a long time ago" and "VR has 0 killer apps and that's why I don't care about it" That kind of tripe.
Do you people seriously think Facebook and Oculus are the o...
I can see the comments already with this one.
Millennials and fan boys.
When I started playing, I got a bit nauseous from having to move and look around. Played with blinders. Gradually reduced those down, and now I play with no blinders at all. No sickness. You can adjust and get used to it and be completely comfortable if you're smart about it.
