I don't know about that man, it would probably just be in decline on 1 extra system. Haven't played myself but MP shooters have a short life span for me in general, I very rarely spend more than a couple of months before I move onto something else anyway so tailing interest wouldn't bither me all that much. Hope the next installment makes it onto PS4

Dude what some call slow and plodding others call considered and tactical. I loved the Killzone MP and while they have yet to recreate Killzone 2 MP goodness Shadowfall was a blast!

Personal taste, and I haven't played Titanfall so can't really comment specifically on the game, but I've always shied away from the COD lightning fast model. It's just everyone running around like a headless chicken knifing people which (for me) sucked the fun out of it a bit.

Glad someone called bullshit on that article. Whether you genuinely like or hate the game, that was just a shitty piece of game journalism

Repressed much?

Very cool. Dude shouldn't have had to say anything!

WTF? Is move working with it? I might just dust that bad boy off!

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if GTAV gets the bundle treatment along with LOU and Destiny. That alone will keep sales up. LBP has appeal to younger gamers too which I think might be missing for fall lineup on MS side.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a lot lined up for Gamescom too to get people psyched for whats happening in the new year. All in all I can't see MS getting close this xmas, but time will tell

I've never been crazy on fan demands or devs caving to them. I know a lot will take the other view, but I say let developers have the final say in what goes into their game. Taking input is fine but it hurt when they released that second ending for ME! Too much crowd sourcing ideas is what fucks up movies nowadays. Less focus group more artistic licence is always better IMO

The alpha had to be hitting reasonably big numbers too and there was no reports of issues. On the contrary the level of polish was pretty impressive! Hopefully devs are looking at the diablo/simcity fiascoes and getting their shit together for online focused games

If the drop had hit with a killer game I could see sales improving, but we're not really at "killer app" levels with either console yet.

I expected a bump in sales from people who were considering buying last month holding off until now, but I'm not at all surprised it hasn't taken a major jump.

Insomniacs history is overall a good one and critics that have got hands on time with Sunset Overdrive are digging it man. I personally have really enjoyed their work on PS, I'll miss out not getting to play this one on PS4.

"Overhyped" is thrown around a lot lately. If people are excited and you're not it doesn't mean that it's "overhyped", just means that this isn't your game. There's plenty more out there

And there was me thinking we were done with this shit....

I've been gaming for 20 years man and the alpha felt fresh like no other shooter has for a long time. That's just personal preference and taste I suppose but if you've yet to play I would say don't make a decision yet!

On a micro level it's nothing that hasn't been done before but the way they bring those elements together gives something that feels new on the whole

I think if they need to test run price models it has to be done in real money terms, if it was done with place holders it wouldn't mean anything you'd just play anyway and the numbers would be of little use to them.

Beta testing the functionality has been ongoing for a while. Now they need to test the pricing model.

It's a beta anyway! If you don't want to pay DON'T PAY! No ones got a gun to your head to be a tester.

They've already stated that the price is set by the publisher, and the fact that it's still in beta means that they have yet to gauge what price customers are willing to pay.

We don't have much in the way of context yet with regards overheads on Sonys side too. It could cost x amount per session just to run the service.

It's very early to be freaking out over pricing just yet

Couldn't agree more. Way too many itchy trigger fingers out there

@Eonjay

True man it's the general ambiguity that has caused them so much trouble. If there wasn't so many blanks to fill in, they wouldn't have people losing the run of themselves with speculation.

But in some cases, like this where the alternative is to put out negative PR I can understand them keeping quiet

Exactly! The head of Xbox games division says something and people are like WTF! Thats not what the randoms on the internet said!

I don't remember MS coming out and saying it was going to be a big deal for anything other than PC. Just goes to show you how much conjecture on a massive scale can become "fact" if there's enough people screaming the same thing...

500 million is for 10 years man. It looks pretty awesome for what it is. The way I see it I loved the game and will buy it at launch. Now I've got a game that I love that I know for a fact has the investment behind it to expand into something much much bigger. Like imagine Skyrim had the same treatment, with areas and quests etc still being added in on a regular basis. I'd be still playing now years later! Let them try, the industry isn't going to collapse if they succeed

4260d ago 12 agree5 disagreeView comment

So we should hope that companies stop investing huge amounts of money on trying something new for the genre and just continue to churn out the same tired old shit year after year?

If it succeeds it will be because people loved it. There will always be niche markets if this isn't your kind of thing. If anything this culture of hoping the other guy fails, freaking out over racism/sexism that isn't there or the massive sense of entitlement is whats going to mess up the ...
