Valve was 2 years too late to hit a short term homerun. While it may find an audience over the long run, the Steam Machine would have gotten a number of people tired of the aging PS3 and Xbox 360. Now with the PS4 and Xbox One the core PC gamer will just duel boot the OS if they see value in the OS.
This could all change if the OS provides something new and disruptive to the TV.
Valve should considering giving away it's games if played via Steam OS. I assume most money they make now is from steam. That way the producers of steam boxes have free games to include. Helps the value of a steam box and gets long term Steam users. Plus, gets people like me to consider duel booting or using Steam OS.
I sent my BLOD unit back to amazon. I will wait till March to try again. There really was not a must play launch title for me. Looks like early 2014 there will be a nice selection.
I am a certified buyer. Had to return to Amazon today due to BLOD.
@Dojan123 if you need picture proof.
I am one of those. I do think only people who are mad will review so the numbers may be low compare to the shipment numbers. My only concern is if Sony know a fail rate they shuold have a number of units to exchange fast instead of the many weeks I need to wait for Sony to fix my broken unit.
I still have faith in Sony. Just sucks I am one of the unlucky ones with a door stop.
Same issue I have. It is brinked. You will need to return.
I am one of the .04. Just my luck. I am not getting the red light. Just stays blue. Looking at amazon over half the reviews have the same issue I am having but I realize only people mad review in those numbers. I was looking forward to playing all night. Plan to ship back to amazon tomorrow.
Still waiting to buy the eye. I went day one with the Move and it collected dust. If I get info twitch I might do it.
If PS4 works like vita or PS3 then yes. Once you have PS+ you need to go to the website store and add to the cart and complete the free transaction. Do not download. Then when you have the PS4 go back and get from your download list. You will not be able to get games no longer on plus. I have been building up my vita collection. Plan to get a vita over the next few months. I will have games to download ready from past PS+ offerings.
I buy digital when things are on sale or much cheaper than physcial. PSN and Live continue to charge the same price and provide little value for me to buy from them online. While my steam account continues to grow and grow even thought I will never play all the games I have bought from the sales.
I think that was my problem as well. I bought it the last steam sale for the Gary mod textures. I need to five it a shot again.
I think they are 2 years too late to do damage. There were a number of older teens that were tired of the PS3/XBox performance. A number of them did moved to PC. They would have moved to SteamBox if they had the option. The new consoles will keep the (new) older teen from jumping to PC for another 4 years.
I do not think it will fail since Value is not producing the hardware and has less $ at risk.
Thanks everyone. Now I understand. Looks like a good purchase for me to streaming PS4 to other rooms or at a friends.
Thanks!
Question - If I have a Vita why would I buy the Vita TV? Game on the big screen. Anything else?
This is a real question. I see the point of the Vita TV but not if I have a Vita.
This game has come a long way. If you only tried it once you should give it a shot again.
Have they stated if our PC purchases will cross over to the PS4? I understand the certs (in game currency) wont but what about cosmetics?
I have paid over $200 for PS2 and I can tell you it is not play to win for me. I still stink at it :)
I have only played TF2 and PS2. I have spent way too much on planet side 2 but I do not mind since I enjoy it.
I have spent way too little on TF2 for the amount of hours I have played it but I am able to craft, trade or get drops if I want something. I believe Valve is still making a killing it on it for the cosmetics.
I would love to know if Sony is making money. I am not sure how they are getting away with PS+ from a business model. I assume they have to pay the developer / distributer something. Or if it is a lost litter to get us to buy the hardware and DLC.
