Also, If 40% more power means almost nothing, why did MS bother with a mere 9% boost to the cpu, and a 5% bump to the gpu?

THIS is how you chuck a gazillion particles around the screen...at 60fps...oh, and at 1080p, and from a very well respected developer with a background of producing quality titles. 8)

All of this "custom" design MS has done is only there to get the performance up to snuff. Sony went all out with pure raw power with as much custom design as needed to eliminate any potential bottlenecks. There's a reason they went to all the devs and publishers around the globe. Its funny seeing the XB1 supporters claim Sony use "off the shelf" parts.....and that's it.
