I'm not talking about bayoneta 2 since its common knowledge that it wasn't even in development to begin with. what I'm talking about is that I don't want to repeat of what Microsoft has been doing since beginning of this generation by making third party publishers release games and DLC on timed exclusive for their console just to get the edge over the competition instead of investing into 1st party content.

I do not condone the idea of them going out of their way and paying 3rd party devs to release what should have been multiplat exclusive to their system. That kind of strategy is disgusting and is only used if you have a weak 1st party offering not to mention the losers will be the gamers who own a different console.
Instead what they should be doing is making compelling new IPs that can appeal the more mature gamer which could intern expand the Nintendo fan base from just being die-h...

I agree with you that this game was not needed but none of us really knows what is going on inside the company. Its possible that they are just buying time until new hardware comes out to bring out their truly remarkable stuff.
Versus 13 and kingdom hearts 3 might have been delayed and will be developed using the new engine we saw last year

I have yet to play any of the FF13 games but from what i have seen in this trailer I can say that the author of this article is over reacting.
The Japanese games market is on a decline and the only markets left that buys games in the tens of millions are Europe and US. So obviously they are going to try their best to try to please the western rpg fans. The first final fantasy 13 game was criticized for being too linear so this time around they are trying to imitate one of the most pop...

I'm surprised Smash Bros didn't even make it into the top ten because I have yet to come across someone that didn't like it. And are the thousands of votes from different people because I have come across some sites that allowed you to vote every time you visit.

You guys are grasping for straws. This article is irrelevant because it doesn't look at the whole picture. All it does is cherry pick the facts that supports their argument and ignore the rest.
Just because the first month sales for the ps3 and 360 versions have declined compared to the previous year doesn't mean it is selling less overall. If i recall correctly, black ops 2 was also released on the wiiU and i know many core gamers went out and bought it with a copy of black ...

The article in no shape or form said the ps4 will get DirectX. According to the article, the ps4 instead will use an api developed by sony london that will have comparable features with DirectX11.
Also no one is stopping Microsoft from putting Blu-Ray in the Xbox other than their pride.

The article already explained why the gpgpu is the best possible direction these consoles should take since no matter how fast the cpu and the gpu are there will still be a bottleneck with the time it takes the for data to travel between them.
To get around this problem, they chose out of the two which one processes data the best then modify that one to be able to handle the job of the other one while maintaining the same techniques that made it superior.

Its too early to tell how well the wiiU or its games are selling since it hasn't been out for even a month yet.

Also the Mario Kart ds and new super Mario bros ds didn't sell 22m and 28m respectively all in one year. I remember when people used to complain when they saw those two games in the NPD top ten from time to time for years and if you compare the yearly averages for Mario Kart DS, you will see that Mario Kart 7 is actually selling better than the DS version. ...

The reason Nintendo doesn't feel the need to invest the same resources in the new super Mario series as they do in the big 3D Mario games is because it is not necessary. Those 2D Mario games are targeted at children and to them its the best thing ever. I remember back in the day when I was a child, those flash games on cartoonnetwork.com were enough to keep me and my friends entertained.

Also you cannot compare the sales of their current gen handheld and games to their pr...

Can't wait to hear more about this game but why does it have to be a timed exclusive for the xbox 360 and no wiiU version announced. The decision making in some of these companies boggles my mind sometimes.

I seriously doubt these would be system sellers since the last handheld GT game was bad and the other 2 have a very high chance being multiplateform titles.

What the vita needs is vita only franchises that takes full advantage of the hardware(i mean the rear touch screen) and not something that can work on either 3ds or ps3. That way people would be forced to buy the system to play the game.

This is a sad year in gaming compared to last year where we had difficulty choosing 5 games to be game of the year. Now i see that we are having difficulty finding 5 games(vga awards even have a downloadable game in their list) and if any of the nominees from last year were released this year, it would have easily won game of the year.

On topic: its sad to see that in this list of 5 games there existed a re-released mobile game and a dlc.

If memory serves, the wii did well at launch and also years following. Am I the only one that remembers how people were having a hard time finding a wii cause the supply couldn't meet the demand. Also the price for that console didn't drop until near the end of 2009.

Its good that the wiiU can upscale games to 1080p so no need for remaster like on ps3. Can it play and upscale gamecube games too?

@reynod stop trying to down play the wiiU. Dolphin does not run the games in 1080p native since the original files were set to run in sd not sure if its 480p or lower so it must be upscaled aswell.

"A Dragon Ball Z, One Piece or Naruto RPG game with a large world to explore like Final Fantasy 6 or 7 or Skyrim."

There was a dbz rpg series on the gba which had exploration. I think it was called the legacy of goku 1 & 2 and also buu's fury.
Also i think there are a few naruto games where you can some exploring, one i can remember is naruto rise of the ninja for the xbox 360 and there were quit a few others with a world to explore(linear progressio...

Windows PCs are open platforms. It would be a waste of time and money if they added new features regularly to the OS like they do on the XBOX. Any new feature that is added to OSX or linux probably has an alternative on windows that people could get if they are interested.

Microsoft's strategy is to create an environment for third developers to build applications of value on their OS without having to intervene themselves.

To say that Microsoft hasn't done anything to keep windows alive is completely ignorant. They have provided numerous updates to the OS and made improvements to development tools so that third party can make better applications.

Their role is to only provide the OS and programming tools. The third party's role is to use those tools to make something of value to make a living.
