I REALLY like the atmosphere. It's like Demon/Dark Souls in a new setting and that is a very good thing. Looking forward to this one.
This kind of art style worked fine for borderlands and was cool at the time, but it doesn't work here. Those enemies looked awful and the gameplay looked like target practice. No thanks.
All the big hyped games have failed this year in the eyes of many Destiny, Watchdogs, and Titanfall. I think they have their merits, but it goes to show how the hype train has gotten out of control and is starting to bite publishers where it hurts. Makes me think a game like Lords of the Fallen that has little hype will be fantastic...I am getting that game.
Minecraft as people know it is no more. They spend 2.5 billion on a franchise then let the very minds that birthed the game go. Just like the Stamper brothers leaving RARE. MS buys something someone created then they show them the door. This is one of the main reasons I dislike them. Not good gaming business imho.
I held off on playing this game to play it on new consoles, really looking forward to this one.
In all fairness the 500 million number floated around is deceiving. A good portion of that has been in marketing the game for the last couple years. Then consider Bungie has a larger development team with hundreds of people, there is a new engine, and 5 years development time. So The money is there it's just not all on screen.
Publishers overhype games now to try to ensure they recoup their invested millions, which raises expectations and more often than not creates disappointment. I learned a long time ago to keep expectations low no matter the hype. Destiny is a solid game though it does not match the hype.
When you get much older you may find out small differences mean alot in life then they did when you are young. Especially when society is trying to make equal outcomes in most phases of our lives...little diffrences is all there will be. embrace it
Both versions look nice, but the PS4 version is better. Alot of people like to discount small differences because it doesn't favor them, but much like life, many times small differences mean everything.
Very well written and thought out article. Good job and a nice read to think about. I did want to point out one thing not mentioned. The author talked about Activisions history of closing unsucessful or unrelevant studios and also correlated the new Tomb Raider exclusivity because a lack of success from last years reboot...but in this case he failed to mention Bungie is independent whereas Crystal Dynamics or those other closed studios were not and if Destiny is not as successful Activision...
When you are talking millions of dollars and contractual agreements it is NO joke. One of MS biggest problems is their blatant disregard for business ethics.

Wasn't trying to offend anyone it just seems with the amount of cabbage thrown at this project and the five years development time, this card system is lame.
I see no purpose or value in this code process for cards, haha people must have to much time on their hands or nothing better to do then mess around with that.

Exactly, everytime I see that picture or the other one floating around I think Daryl from the Walking Dead and the devs may need to change the design a bit unless they have promission from that actor because it looks to much like him. Actors don't take kindly to their likeness being used without compensation.
Destiny is nowhere near the size the Bungie lead on to believe with its "each planet is the size of Reach" PR bullcrap. For those disappointed and reconsidering getting it might I recommend you pick up Metro Redux instead. You get two great games and all DLC for $50 cheaper than the Destiny limited edition package.
The author cited two releases this year, but I think Titanfall should be included. It was hyped beyound belief and although it scored averages in the 8's and had great gameplay it has many of the problems Destiny has. Little to no story for both games and lack of content. At least Destiny has Legendary gear to grind for and daily, weekly events, end game content like raids and strike playlists.
