Dude, so well said. Maybe it's because I'm part of the older generation (started gaming with SNES and really dove head first into PSone), but I prefer finding out the story for myself, and straight to the point cutscenes and dialogue. Filler disrupts my focus so much. That's probably why I took to the Souls games so quick - old school style approach to storytelling and plot. Gameplay first, story second. It would be great if every game could have the greatest story of all time, bu...

I agree, it shouldn't be missed. The Metro games succeed at immersion better than any other shooter I've played. This one looks like it's going to be the best entry thus far.

I agree with this and I also think it's an unhealthy trend that gamers demand long games. A game should be as long as it needs to be. Not more or less. It can really tarnish the game when it's long and drawn out more than it needs to be. Alien: Isolation, for example, is one of the best horror games I've ever played, but it's really hampered by the middle section, which felt unnecessary and unhelpfully long.

Remasters are dead? No one claimed remasters were better than remakes. But it doesn't mean gamers don't enjoy remasters, either. It can be really enjoyable to go through an old game that has a new coat of paint on it, so to speak.

I don't think they changed anything. I think they took was has been established and did it as well as possible. That is by no means a bad thing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking something that's been done before and making it as good and refined as it can be. But I would be very surprised if ten years later, we're referring to RDR2 in terms of the changes it made to open world games.

This is the first time in a long time that I've seen positive reviews and been even more hyped for the game as a result. Most of the time, I'm unmoved one way or another by positive or negative reviews for a game, but the fact that seemingly everyone is able to form a such a resoundingly positive consensus makes me want to play this game right. now.

They have every right to that confidence. The Metro games' ability to completely and utterly immerse the player in the world is second to none. The gunplay is both fun and unique, there really aren't any other shooters have quite the same feel. And the story manages to ensnare the player's interest in clever ways that leave a lasting impact. I forget the plots of most shooters I play soon after beating them, but I remember the plots of the Metro games exceptionally well. I can'...

That's interesting. I feel like most side quests in games tend to be distracting and poor related to the main game content, and as a result, they often feel like a waste of time upon completion. Maybe this is a good thing.

I'm glad you said this. I am a fervent Zelda fan and was really excited to get this game after hearing the hype, but I stopped an hour in and never had even the slightest urge to go back.

It absolutely deserves another game. There's so much lore to pull from. It would also be awesome if we were to receive a remaster of the trilogy, just in case a new entry was a flop or disappointment. Which...it's EA, odds are high that'll be the case in some way, shape, or form.

Right, that's what I don't get. It amazes me with the data gathering processes companies have at their fingertips that they still create products consumers blatantly didn't ask for and don't want, while ignoring something that they certainly do want. I know Isolation was considered a flop, but it feels like the interest and demand for a sequel is more than enough to justify the production of a bonafide sequel, not a lame rip off mobile game that doesn't even have enough ba...

Great question, I wonder this myself. I just replayed the series from start to finish over holiday break and what a great set of games. The third was super weak as far as its plot goes but the gameplay was genuinely good. It's a shame they botched the execution of the, you know, FEAR and horror in the third game.

I've been kind of a hermit when it comes to online gaming for most of this generation, mostly out of a lack of interest in engaging with other players, but I'm so eager to try this out. This has really reignited my excitement for a social gaming experience.

I forgot this was a game

What an absurd notion. This is a nonissue. I genuinely don't understand why people assert there is a problem when there clearly isn't one.

2628d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

Totally unwarranted. Biggest complaint I've seen is against the simplification of everything. If that's what you're upset about, then maybe it's because the game wasn't made for you.

This is categorically wrong. Russia was the primary combatant in the war. They were invaded by the Germans in June 1941, almost 5 months before Pearl Harbor. They already had Germany on the retreat by the time D-Day was even being planned. They reached Berlin first. The list goes on. When it comes to the European Theater, they were the absolute primary combatant. American history has completely downplayed the U.S.S.R's role in the war to their benefit, which is a shame, considering Russia...
