I doubt it will affect Sonic 4, at this point it is a done deal. But maybe we will get a decent Sonic some day...
It could also be a trophy system just for the PSP that doesn't integrate with the PS3 trophies.
But yeah, if they did it right they could also dissuade the use of CFW, or have a means of detecting modded PSPs and ban them. Of course, there's nothing stopping the hackers from circumventing that as well. :)

I'm still not totally sold on 3D. I'll have to pop over to a SonyStyle store and see it first-hand before I think about upgrading. I just bought a new TV last summer, AND I'm not looking forward to the early adopter tax.
My question is whether 3D truly adds something that was missing, or is it just another layer of ridiculous? I guess it depends on how integrated 3D is to the game in question. Avatar was great in 3D. Clash of the Titans, not so much.

Yeah, this is no Cash Guns Chaos (sorry CGC devs). This game feels like a winful amalgam of the old school point and click adventure games, and the old school RPGs that weren't about wacky combat systems and emo characters. It's funny, it's entertaining and it's only $15.

Yeah, they block consoles with CFW from the PSN and from the PS Store. There are ways around it, but it's a nuisance.
What this does, like T3mpr1x says, is decriminalizes it and prevents Sony from suing CFW developers from releasing code, and prevents the CFW developers from being charged under the DMCA.
It still doesn't prevent Sony from blocking CFW from playing online on the PSN, and blocking from the PS Store and releasing new firmware to try to ...
