my bet is it won't have dedicated servers or if it does it will be just like black ops, no public files.
using the OtherOS for linux :D
well, wouldn't it have been smart to use a different key for offline and online? just saying
Now this is a question I think you would be able to answer, what if i don't want to use sony's network or sony's games, maybe i want to use the cell processor for a better use than gaming?(cheap servers :D)
likes take the differnce between 2006 and 2012, thats 6 years or 4 x 18months
now tech doubles while staying the same price at ~18 months, thus
18 months:512x2=1024
36 months:1024x2=2048
54 months:2048x2=4096
72 months:4096x2=8192
thus theoretically it is possible for MS and Sony to have 8GB of ram in the next consoles without it costing more than it did in 2006. but lets give a 10% margin of error thus we can have a little ove...
@neko_mega
isn't that what piracy does?
the two are not the same thing, so this confuses me.
edit: if you wish to explain this to me in full detail please feel free to pm me. ;)
but 4 GBs of it would/should be priced the same due to how tech changes and prices fall.
think about it like this every ~18 months hardware doubles while not changing price, now do the same will all the hardware in a consoles, with them released in 2012.
this only a rough idea of what should be priced the same as now, but this is only theoretical.
however sony jumping to blue ray help that technology get cheaper. currently if they were released tomorrow they would get 4GB however in 18+ months i don't see why not to have 8GB.
Knew it
may i ask how unlocking a device to other software sources screws over ps3 overs?
I may not support him being an attention hog about this but I don't believe locking a device to One software source is right.
so any chances section 1201 of the dcma being removed now?
they will need more than 3 GB if they hope for the system to survive long in the next gen... I say maybe 4GB or a way to upgrade as time goes on like how the n64 did it.
pkg managers... like synaptic? I'm confused on how a package manger= piracy
also note: removed researcher coment to double check the eff's document on the dmca...
since i can not edit my post D:, i will post a comment, i want bare metal Linux thus no hardware restrictions due to virtualization or a hyper-visor.(also no sony foot print on any of the software)
I don't care about playing games. that is what my pc is for(which is linux).
the ps3 has cell technology, and the price of one ps3(300?) is cheaper than that of one IBM blade server with cell technology(~8 grand, the cheapest i could fine was 6400 usd*used*) <...
"computer entertainment console" yet i can't legally install linux on it D:, (insert dmca rant here)
note: I don't want to alter their code, i want to wipe their code off and have it work properly with the linux.
just_the_truth
I agree with your point, however might i say the cell processor is the same one used in blade servers. thus the ps3 when clustered to cost equal that of 1 blade, they(the cluster) are more than 3 times as powerful. I could be wrong though if so could you let me know.
... I thinks this group within anon is just that newbies to anon
why should he be banned from steam if he has done nothing wrong to them?
Ok, being a console gamer, till last year. I didn't know how bad some of the ports were for the pc crowd.
So why is everyone annoyed at DICE is putting the PC crowd over the consoles? its been the opposite for years.
well seeing how a pc that is able to out preform any of the consoles, now only costs 610$ usd(8GB ram,500GB drive,hd 5850,quad core). its only going to get cheaper in the years to come, as well as they most likely do not buy parts at customer price.
Now remember the first 2 years of the next gen will be about getting the systems into homes, so both sony and MS may take the risk of selling them at a loss, if the hardware is able to be moderately future proof(more so than this ...
