could be, Not gonna argue a possible reason for this, i only wanted to state my side. so thank you for pointing out another possible reason for this.
Bubbles for your well put point. :D
I don't see anything wrong with governments asking questions and not going along with corporations "just trust us" argument. the only thing that releasing more info would do is hurt the damned stock holders but SOE won't(or shouldn't) get in trouble for harming their profits by following orders from a government.
More info on what happened is good since it helps other places for allowing this to happen to them.(tell me every detail about how it happened...
While i loved call of duty 4, now seeing lack of new things, lack of any real engine progress, yet it requires higher system requirements makes me question how stable the code base is. so i hate both the hype and the game.
I don't see how a leak could damage a games sells. more info for the consumer prior to release is a great thing. I'm sorry but publishers and developers need to move away from the hype sells idea and go back to great games sell. If the removal of hype damages sells than they need to rework how they market their game.
edit: i agree with neko and believe this is just a stunt to produce hype, however my opinion still stands and i don't think hype should sell games. ...
biggest shooter (based on how it pushes hardware): may be battlefeild 3 this year
biggest shooter (based on sales): call of duty
edit: the call of duty series needs an updated engine. yes it will make production time longer(if the games are great, they will stand the test of time), yes it will cost money, but you will get a better game when its all said and done.

I personally used to love the way Call of duty played back before mw2. At that time I was a console gamer, now it is true pc doesn't sale as much as consoles but that is also a good thing. i can open up "open arena" or quake 2 and still find full servers.
even if pc gamers don't buy games right away, they are more likely to get a game that will pass the test of time, not some money grab that call of duty has turned into.
would you considered the doom or quake series as milked?
personally i still enjoy quake 2 and i've been playing it for over 10 years :D
I think your main point is duel sided.
console games on pc end up being low quality for pc
pc games on console end up being low quality for gaming
While I supported the idea of having linux on a ps3 (not for piracy reasons, I just like tinkering with technology :P), i have to say anon while most of the things they have done have been good, this #opsony stuff really backfired on them. what also seems troubling is that everyone seems to forget about all the wrong things sony(as a coporation) has done against the consumer, like threating to sue abio hobbyist for making custom code for their "pets" or their root kit issue.
I was gonna post without reading TFA. However it only shows one point of why call of duty is starting to feel stale, and that point is its lack of innovation in terms of gameplay. Now i know call of duty has added things in each release but nothing truly revolutionary as cod4 with the introduction of perks and killstreaks. more or less activision is rehashing what has worked, and with the release of mw2 and black ops kinda lock down what the modding community can do to make the game's lon...
yea but the best part of this is that the community can host the server on their own pcs, thus no need to rent :D
to each his own :D
Duh, acrs are the greatest cause they are advance combat rifles :P. the bushmaster just ugly when compared to say the m417,f2k, or even the sig556 looks better.
why provide new SDKs? sdks are basically just tools and apis packaged togather. so i don't think an new SDK is needed, unless sony believes the old/current SDK has been compromised(no need to pay to develop)
copied straight off /.
"And you will create hundreds of new Geohots.
such is the rule of internet underground since days of old. the worst anyone can do, is to create conditions for a crusade against themselves in regard to morals. after that, it doesnt matter who or what you are - they will hack you. and the ones doing the hacking wont be small fish.
the bigger the bastardry, the greater honors those who hack them gains in the internet ...
I seen an interview with him on RT and have to agree he seemed like a nice guy. But I agree no one is as charming as NPH :D. I honestly don't think he meant to do harm, I think he just wanted to give people more control than sony was allowing. :(
still I don't see how slashdot is the polar opposite of n4g since most nerds are gamers.
ok, I fail to see why people hate this guy. From my understanding all he did was give people the knowledge to control a machine. same thing he did with the Iphone, take control away from a company and give it to the people. I see nothing wrong with that. Now for this ordeal, sure he proved that the ps3 could be hacked, but that didn't need proving since it is a fundamental rule with any computer based system. the only perfect security, is if its not connected to a network and no one can g...
Ok, a trailer release. Hype be damned, I want to know details about the game, I don't want important details released last minute.
on a side note: since when are game sales the most important factor for a good game, wouldn't game longevity be a solid factor to show if a game is good or not?
