getting ready to go to basic training :/

cause developers are stuck using the PoS DX that isn't multiplatform like openGL and openAL. let alone how they make they games dependent on libraries outside of the games directory. these and some other factors are why *nix based systems don't get the love they deserve. :(

ok, new consoles need to come out or games quality with either be at a standstill or start to decline due to less content taking up the same amount of space

If i may point out, if the current consoles had 1 gb of ram total things would be a lot better, and not due to graphics but due to content and how its loads that content. games could handle more things going on, or even open world gameplay for fps games.

how is that related to the article or the topic the article was posted under?

I'm ready for the next gen, I'm just waiting for some up start developers to produce a game that pushes consoles to their breaking point. that way we can stop with the untapped potential.

lets hope not, the more we relay on DX ** the worse off non-windows gaming is. i say let them stick to openGL type of rending, and hopefully developers follow suit and develope openGL versions of their games.

Well written article. I believe that the reasoning for focusing on graphics is to show how far our technology has come since the release of this gen, and is more of a subtle way of saying the next consoles will need to come around with more power or developers will go back to pc where they have more room for textures,maps,models,etc...

I do not wish to start a console war or even an argument about current consoles' power threshold. however i will say that expecting 512mb ...

the laws are good enough. i would rather have a balance between security and freedom, even if there are hackers out there, than a police state like world, were having fun with tools could get you locked up even if you cause no harm or damage.(hacking windows to boot faster or have wobbly windows :P)

well, MS is alwasy being hacked so strike that one out. Sony overacted to the linux issue.(i'm sorry but whats wrong with linux using all the ps3s hardware? why not just sue those who abused it and pirated and let there be linux?)

Ok, than make it so corporations can not lobby, and those who do get at 10 billion usd fine, as well as make laws that put the public in control of their reps. This way laws can't pass if the cities from where the rep is from vote against the idea going to Washington.

I hope levitation, mark & recall, locking, and cloths under armor come back.

while your examples are correct, the powers that be are fucked up if they can't think of ways to stop the issues without messing with the innocents. However i do think the bombing example is a bit exaggerated as it would most likely cause a war or nato involvement.

The bigger problem is that corporation and governments think they are above the law cause they can change it.

@Deadman,now i think that is a little ridiculous, some of the people behind anon's attacks(all of the attacks anon has ever done), seem to know their shit, and honestly if someone could get them to work as white hats or even gray hats, the world would be better off. why waste these skills, i say buy them out :P.

While I disagree with that, i would like to know why you stated that? Personally i fell call of duty has been getting worse since cod4 due to either poorer gameplay design(gun class balance, poor implementing of new features and removal of core features for the past) or lack of well rounded maps.

What i'm really suprised is how people think ms hasn't been hacked. Now that may be true as of this year(so far) but they have been hacked many times in the past. Now what i don't understand is why not hit activision for how they are trying to squeeze every penny out of dlc and make games with little control on the pc side(really no pub server files >.<)

Ok, if we get laws about network hacking can we get some measures to allow people to test their own networks or test other peoples networks whom pay them(IE: protect pentesters)

MS has been hacked since the early days of the internet, So in all honesty hacking MS isn't something that would gain much intention thus they won't do it unless its just the trend now to hack gaming companies.

While i agree that more people play call of duty, even i play it on pc (cod4, best in series imho). But since when does sales= quality

off topic rant: hell I beat more new innovating games get less sales due to treading new ground. Innovation is what is important, new creative ideas that help game play survive for years to come is what makes a game great, not rehashing the same ideas over and over./rant
