They have been working on this since the feedback site went up. They had to create a way to perfectly emulate Xbox 360 Power PC code on a x86 based machine. I think its pretty awesome. Key word is perfect. If you have ever played an emulator you'd know some games work some don't. Some have slow down or glitches due the complexity of their nature. For this to just work is in itself amazing.
Even thought I don't really feel like Sony won I was still damn happy with what was shown. I'm now excited to see what Nintendo and Square Enix have. Its great not having to choose one or the other.
@Death
You said it. Once all the hype dies down we have whats in front of us and what was announced last night is very very far away. In the end the spectacle of the announcements was all Sony needed to distract an entire fanbase. Xbox had little the first few months of 2015 and now Sony has little the last few months of 2015. Such is life.
This is how I feel as well. That backwards compatibility is a huge bomb because we get to keep the digital only games licenses and retail games for another generation. For a lot of digital only games they weren't going to look any different on XB1 or PS4 so this is a huge thing for all of us who poured money into XBLA and digital sales. Especially me since I will now get to play the real Ultra Street Fighter IV using my Killer Instinct Mad Catz TE instead of the poorly ported one (Though ...
@KingThrash360
I'm a real gamer I play damn near everything and own damn near everything. That being said Shenmue bored the shit out of me 15 years ago when it was released on my Dreamcast. *Blank face Ryo with moving mouth* "Excuse me" *Blank faced NPC with moving mouth* "Ah Ryo!!". Does that make my gamer score low? We are all going to have differing opinions. Some games are not for everybody and funnily enough the two games announced that everyone i...
Probably because I considered everything in the middle forgettable. My point was the big announcements were in the beginning and they were just filling time with mostly everything else until Uncharted. They always have this pacing issue come out strong then it just dies all of a sudden and crawls. I guess because.i wasn't excited for cod, dreams feels to high concept to have mainstream appeal, hitman was a cig trailer non exclusive. Destiny blah, ea showed battlefront at their own confere...
That's what I was thinking I was looking at horizon for at least a year and....nothing. That could be a 2017 game for all we know and FF7 again no mention of a date but maybe square is saving that for their own conference so well see. With nomura and I taste working on FF15 and Kingdom Hearts it's probably being done by an external team. More reasons to watch the square conference.
Man the delusion is strong Sony had a great first 25-30 minutes but then they killed they're own momentum just like every year. Vue, Morpheus, disney infinity, dream, cod black ops that they're hardcore base doesn't care about. Go back and watch that conference again after the thrill of FF7 it nosedives. They didn't recover until Uncharted came back. A solid 30 minutes of egh. I feel like even the most die hard PS fanboy can see that if they look at it objectively.
FF7 for me was a megaton. I have just about no interest in The Last Guardian for now but I agree the MS conference was smoother and had the biggest bomb of E3. Horizon looked great for me the highlight of the show gameplay wise.
Exactly the first 25 minutes were awesome then it took a nose dive for 30 minutes like all the other years and recovered with Uncharted demo.
I think its a horrible mistake. Sony's core audience did not want to hear about COD they damn despise it. When they were talking about it the crowd was almost dead. I don't know about anyone else but I was expecting this announcement and didn't care. It felt like MS just let it go and it really looks like COD has hit the ceiling. Sure it will maintain its hardcore audience but its really starting to feel dull now.
More like you are now able to play all of the games you purchased last generation. All of the hundreds and thousands of dollars spent acquiring Digital licenses will not go to waste in 2 or 3 years when we stop producing the old consoles. This was the biggest announcement at E3 hands down am I happy about FF7 hell yes but this took the cake. Especially for those of us who thought we had spent all that money for nothing.
hahahha they had to reset it. I was wondering why the hell he was standing there so long. Ten bucks the controller died at the worst time.
Why did they announce it here and not at their own dedicated conference tomorrow? This is amazing thought I'd never see the day one of my pillars of gaming returned to me.
Man I know people have been waiting a long time but to me Horizon is the nicest surprise so far.
This game looks fantastic there had definitely been a noticeable leap in graphics. At least that's how I see it as someone who's spent years looking at those textures and models. The overall art style is still there but it looks less bright and cartoony in comparison to last gen.
Haha that one in the picture is the one I have. Got it from best buy and have no regrets. 2TB free with every game installed.
Ahhhh I thought I remembered Shuhei saying the original move would be used with it. I was so happy because it would breath life into an otherwise useless poorly supported peripheral I paid money for. *sigh*..... I'm still going to buy it all though. *shrugs*.
Of all games this was one if the worst to make exclusive to one platform but Capcom has a long history of bad decisions. The thing about his is like I said months ago when it was announced their is going to be a fallout for this and it's going to be some single player game that everyone want s multiplatform. Oh well war never changes.
So you want to give up all of the money you spent last gen on digital games? We got the best of both worlds. There are plenty of NEW games coming.
