I think having gems is not a bad thing. Dissidia has accesories and summons that you can equip to make your characters truly unique and it worked well.

FFXIII did have a lot of potential but it lacked in some areas and because they take long to develop the games all people could do was write article after article about how the franchise is going down but after playing games like Crisis Core and Dissidia it was never in doubt to me, we just had to play the waiting game.

People forget about Dissidia and Crisis Core. They may be spin-offs but they come under the Final Fantasy name and they were great and innovative.
They just don't get that much attention because they are on the PSP.

If it makes you any happier there are rumours that they have started development on the next gen consoles but even when it come out PC will eclipse them a few years down the line or even straight away in terms of raw power but they will sell because it's not just graphics that count.

I think what gets people mad is that the 8/10 affects it's metacritic so it likes a weak link that drags everything down. If there was no metacritic everyone will just see a bunch of 10's and 9's and won't be bothered by an 8 which is still a good score.
I've never seen such a meltdown like this before. There were legitimate reasons for disagreeing with the review as pointed out by Richard but others just saw 8/10 and went beserk lol.

Well the Vita is coming out in Japan so we can use that as a gauge to determine how it could have been in the west if the Vita was also being released here.

I want one so badly. People are saying it's expensive by comparing it to TV's but it's more comparable to projectors than TV's.
The reponse is positive by a large amount for the people who tried it on the AVS forums and a lot of them are buying it straight away. Too expensive for me though, for now.
