you're failing to acknowledge the joy of N4G.... or why they go through the trouble of allowing their user base to set up accounts and post their responses and opinions.

I love the diversity on this site. Folks are passionate because they care.
And all common sensed gamers loath the tribal fanboyish behavior of the vocal few.

Yes, that’s the very smart aspect of W2.
Geralt: professing his desire to stay out of politics and fractional allegiance, only to have his opinions/actions steer the fate of three nations and the non-human races. To your point (and this is what I love) , after all of that ..he continued to press to find the answers to his open question.
**minor spoilers**)
In a lot of respects.. the Hunt (dimensional riders) may be a bigger problem that the warring factions.

I'm starting my second play through tonight to follow the path of Roach, find the green mold… ¬_¬ and to choose the 'other option(s)' in the final confrontation.

I'm with you. The Morrowind's open discovery story and environment is responsible for a healthy percentage of my statement.
With that said, Oblivion was nothing to shake a stick at; I really enjoyed it in its own right (even though it was equally open, but significantly less atmospheric than Morrowinds). DA1 was an amazing presentation as well but on a much smaller scale.

There is a little bit of ‘exuberation’ in Xristo's comment. However the point centers around the praise that should be heaped on W2. In short:
I was very disappointed with DA2 and then… simply blown away with The Witcher 2.

Regarding SKYRIM:
Anyone who loved the Elder Scrolls series will highly appreciate W2.
However, the open world of Elder Scrolls is unmatched. I’m very excited for SKYRIM – I’m sure that W2 will push Bethesda just a l...

and that’s putting it softly...

I loved it (56+ hour to complete ..several more story option to complete on the replay).

However, it’s the same site. Each review (reviewer) is an extension of the review site. We don’t track independent reviewers like contractors; we follow, track and judge the review sites. The praise and criticism goes both ways.

Yes the combat is in the ball park of DS.
But w2 insane mode is .... insane.

@Chak_ - You are correct!

Reviews scores of 10 are not the definition of perfection but the acknowledgement of greatness among its peer. This game and the collective assets it brings to the table (although not all things to all people) is the greatest RPG of this generation.

The reviewer is off. The game is fantastic and richly cared for. You can really appreciate the effort that ceo put into the title (from soup to nuts).
This game is a truly a uncompromising giant in the rpg realm. Just beat the game last night (50+ hour) with only half the missions completed and several story paths untouched.

The site should do a counter review in a few weeks to maintain its credibility. Much love to console and pc hammers!!!

You are spot on Kamikaze. Although not perfect: It is (underscore) the greatest, smartest, most realistic and lastly, well put together RPG I have ever played. I said it before and I'll say it again -- The Watcher 2 is the new standard.

I would only say that they are taking care of us (as a gaming community).
The game is truly a gaming masterpiece.

Now... one would say that I was a JPG purist (with a deep love for WRPGs). However over the years I have been persuaded that the WRPG style of game development simply cannot be denied its rightfully do of respect and personal attention.

Of all the late great titles that fit this category
(Fallout series, The Elder Scrolls series, Dragon age 1,..Mass Effect 1 and 2, W1 ect..),...
The Witcher2 is the by far the most impressive. The collective package is s...

No need my friend. Feel free to start with the witcher2. I know purest my disagree with me ....but what can't be denied is the very dramatic leap (between W1 and W2) in game play mechanics, story, graphics and presentation. The lead still has amnesia ...and the W2 story line will fill in the gaps along the way. Have fun!

I'm am thoroughly impressed with The Witcher2.. so much so that I pulled an all nighter! That's right 38 years old. Wonderful wife, 2 kids and a great Job... and I pulled an all nighter with W2. Who would have figured? That hasn't happened for 15 years!

I'm currently playing it through Steam using my PS3 controller :). So.. I'm half way there!

This is defiantly being ported. It has a gamepad option...we just may not get it until late 2011/early 2012.
