When Sony buys multiple established studios that have had long term multiplat franchises like MS did with the Zenimax deal we can talk, until then stop acting like its even remotely comparable. I think its more about an over feel than specific details. I remember a game called The Mark of Kri when I was younger and this game gives me the old school vibe of that game but with as you say much more current gen polish.
Such an absolutely beautiful game, it had to have a Photomode.
Honestly I dont mind the old school reference, that's a far more complementary way to see it than the reviewers spouting the "you've played this game before" BS. No one should have any issue with an old school vibe since people love back compat so much so they can play those old school games.

FYI, the game is also on PC and will eventually come to other platforms so this hardly has anything to do with Playstation fans so to single out that fan base on this shows your bias and the fact you just want to go after Playstation fans for no reason.

Says "plays it too safe" then the reviewer complains about supposed "cultural appropriation" because the characters have Western accents. So its pretty clear what this review is about and what kind of person the reviewer is. This review can be consigned to the trash been where it belongs.
You're trying to make that sound like a bad thing, they make insanely good remakes so their acquisition would still be a very good move for Sony.
