The one thing that we have to realize with Nintendo is that they think cost more than specs, so if the Specs the Devs are asking for is above what Nintendo deems a safe cost to manufacturer and sell, they wont do it because of the strength of their 1st parties and confidence they can sell consoles.

That is a problem for Nintendo that today's gamers wants to know specs, even though the majority of us do not understand what the specs truly mean. We equate bigger numbers to better which is not always correct in terms of hardware. Its about what kind of processing performance you can achieve, from my limited understanding.
From my understanding, 1080p/60fps is the one thing the WiiU can do with no problem when used correctly. What it will have a problem with when compared to X1 and PS4 is physics.

Yea, but if third party is going to port sub par versions then I'll pass on then, bring me strong 1st parties for my money. From the sound of yesterday's news, third parties will probably get to make some Nintendo first party games like Metriod prime, other M, H Warriors, and like when Sega helped with F-Zero.
That's a win win for all sides.
This new game makes perfect sense. It fits the Nintendo mold. Kart and Brawl are monster hits, why not add an airplane combat game that will appeal to everyone. Is a proven genre and the online potential is huge, other than Mario, It's a completely new concept that could rival FPS online play.
As a Wii U owner, I can speak on its online structure. There is nothing wrong with Nintendos online gaming. Nintendo is not Sony or Microsoft. Friend codes where horrible, but that is the past. Nintendo makes affordable gaming consoles, at $300, It out performs everything in that price range in the gaming world. Period.
I would buy an HD remake of F-Zero with online mp. Also I think WiiU F-Zero should be open world like NFS with circuits available as well. You can add Rogue Squadron to that list too.
The second screen would also add to realism. When you drive you look away from the road to check your speed on the dashboard. Plus with motion control steering, i see a great experience on the Wii U.
Why would Nintendo make a new console....? Judging by how they are releasing software, both triple A and E-Shop great things have come and continue. Say what you want about Nintendo 3rd party support, but it's pretty deep as well. The Wii U is going to be a very strong force in gaming this Gen. I have played the trial and its a Win.
This actually just makes me wonder what else Nintendo has in development. I never saw this game coming, and Reggie has been stating that overall its all about the software. I think that 2014 will be full of suprises form the Big N. Also thsi should be a great game, but I highly doubt it will be one of the best Zelda games for 2 reasons:
1. This Zelda will have no puzzles.
2. This Zelda will be more Hack n Slash, multi-player based.

I liked this Nintendo Direct for two reasons.
1. This ND had a few games that I'm interested in and one that I'm getting today, Sports Club Golf.
2. To me they are wrapping up the first wave of 1st Party titles, which should now open the way a second wave of 1st party titles to be announced at E3 2014 (ie. F-Zero, Starfox, a possible port of the new Star Wars Squadron title maybe..)

Personally I hope they go with an idea that had previously been touched on, a futuristic take. Link could have a light saber style master sword, and light cycle, Hyrule a hi-tech city and Gandolf could have a robot army. Just a thought.
In order for them to make money on this, the would need to partner with a console and make available as a bundle. The Dave and Buster option is also a good idea. The market for this is small, more so cause of its size.
I often hear people say Nintendo has confused the public by giving the perception is the Wii U is an updated Wii. I don't think that's confusing, because the Wii U is a updated Wii. Personally I think that Mario not selling as expected is great. This will force Nintendo to work on other titles and possibly aquire some more second party devs for new games that Nintendo admittedly is not great at, like more "hardcore" type games. The console itself is fine, but Nintendo must realize the gaming audience has changed. Mario and Zelda are not going to be enough.

At this point, I'm like screw 3rd parties on Nintendo consoles. I'll buy games when I'm ready and not watered down versions either. Nintendo has earned my respect over the years, just do me right this gen. I buy 3rd party games and honestly they are the ones that screw me.
