It's funny because all of that has become cheaper and easier thanks to better hardware and easier tools which have been available for a few years now.
That expensive MotionScan face capture that Team Bondi used has been replaced with a cheap face-wear headset that does the same thing at a fraction of the cost, and it can be combined with live motion capture as opposed to requiring two separate actor performance captures.

Most games sell about 1 - 3 million the first month out.
Pubs only count numbers for the first two months (within that quarter) and they don't care about anything else because investors only care about quarterly revenue/profit.
So even if a game sells 10 million in its lifespan, they consider it a failure if it moves less than 3 million in its first two months out.
@zerocrossing
Yeah but we can't ignore that Nintendo completely won 7th gen with the Wii. Technically the PS3 lost (until earlier this year) and the 360 will go out the absolute loser when it's all said and done.
Fanboys can try to spin the numbers anyway they want but Nintendo won and they're winning now just based on numbers, and until either console surpasses that number, that's just how it is.
MoreRPG makes a valid point:
In movies we're not the ones pulling the trigger. In a game it's our avatar, our choice and our consequence to deal with what happens with what follows killing someone in that interactive world.
It's not really the same thing by a long shot (depending on the game and the context of the way it's handled and reacted to).
Yeah that's why I gave up on current gen games... the cut corners to accommodate the hardware makes a lot of stuff unplayable (for me).
I'll wait for GTA V to land on next-gen consoles... I just can't stand poor framerate, poor LOD, poor draw distance and the aliasing, which is going to obviously be present in the 360/PS3 builds.
ANd before you all say "But The Last of Us looked great!" that's because it was LINEAR!
Except the Wii WON the seventh gen of gaming and right now the Wii U has a 3 million SKU lead on the competition. So... technically, Nintendo is still winning if we're looking at numbers and market share.
Shenmue 3? GTFO with that kind of heartbreak talk; you only make tears flow from the rivers of our soul with such words.
Ah, you'll see plenty of the Wii U next year and in 2015. They've been handing out Pro licenses to a lot of registered developers to make AAA-quality games.
Oh of course.
This is one of those demos where the boys -- uh, I mean, -- the kids will be spending hours "studying"... the kind of studying that gives you wrist cramps.
@Eonjay
Son, you haven't seen nothing yet.
I present to you: YouTube's comment section

Oh, you edited your comment... now it makes my comment look silly. Thanks for that. :P
Seriously?
I will get this game for the name alone. That is one of the most epic titles for a game and sadly an accurate description of just about 99% of the dungeon runs in every RPG out there.
Fanboys will be fanboys
@BitbyDeath
Oh yeah, I also forgot about Rigs of Rod, Project CARS, the Outerra Engine, BeamNG's racing game and the Brigade Engine prototypes.
I think it's the first one.
Ads are you usually based on your previous search preferences, soooo....
Plot twist: The booty in the photo belongs to a dude.
You make it sound like the games would have herpes on the box or something.
Why would they need new engines when the current engines (like Frostbite 3.0 and Unreal 4) have capabilities that the PS4 and XBox One can't even utilize or when they can't run games from these engines at 1080p and 60fps on the highest settings?
Seriously? Do you know how idiotic it would be to build new engines when the old ones were never maxed out?
