Will there be any good games for these consoles?
Yeah I'm torn on The Division. It looks kind of fun, like a more high-polished DayZ, but if it's not quite an MMO and not quite a standalone retail game, why should I be interested? It's literally just a rent-a-game with a retail price attached and that doesn't interest me at all.
I have been pleasantly surprised with Cubeworld, though, that game looks like so much fun and reminds me of what RPGs should have been like following the original Zelda 64.
Yeah, Xbox fanboys can cry to the moon over SOny's bid to cater to indies but who cares. Fanboys are stupid and I would rather have 100 awesome indies to choose from than one or two AAA generic shooters.
In fact, I can't wait to play Starbound on the PS4, amongst other games.
A line-up of fun games beats a big-budget, generic AAA title any day of the week.
Heck, a lot of the popular Let's Play videos generate most of their views...
Steam Box.
Google it.
Living room machine = Steam Box.
It will be designed for people too afraid of getting a "gaming PC" but prefer home consoles. The OS is designed around a controller so you can easily navigate and do everything you can normally do on a PC but with all the ease and functionality of a console.
In essence: Imagine a game console that allowed you to play all your Steam games the way you usually play your Xbox 360 or PS3 games.
That'...
Dang are you people purposefully being dense? It's not an extender or a "streamer", YOU CAN STREAM IF YOU WANT but the SteamOS + Steam Box will be a dedicated PC console for the living room.
The streaming options is no different than having backward compatibility. It's as simple as that.
Please name me a home console that launched with 300 available games right out of the gate?
I'm begging you.
Nice stealth troll.
No it's not just "streaming from your PC" it's a dedicated OS. You only need to stream games that can't run natively in Linux (DX-exclusive games).
Everything that runs on Linux will run on the SteamOS.
I can almost guarantee you that Valve will announce a huge Linux exclusive to help push the SteamOS/Linux into the living room entertainment space.
Ah, I was hoping for some 4K video.
It's the OUYA that isn't crap (sorry OUYA). Of course any gamer worth their salt would be interested.
Yes, please... to VITA TV.
He has a point and I agree.
I loved The Last of Us but it was essentially a smoother playing version of Silent Hill or Resident Evil.
The gameplay wasn't perfect nor was it innovative but it worked and worked well because the storytelling was innovative and the characters were legit. It also had a sound pace that kept you moving along.
However, if we purely looked at the game for its gameplay, yeah, I would say it was probably a step beh...
WTF happened that Fox News is now so prominent in our gaming culture? I find it ridiculous that every other day they seem to be spewing some vitriolic fanboy BS that you would find on the forums.
However, I'm being a bit hypocritical, because I do submit some of their articles because I know Fox News = flamebait = easy heat.
You sure it's a girl?
It's Japan... sometimes you gotta ask first.
I wonder if they'll eventually re-release games from this gen with their appropriate texture sizes?
I would love to see what Uncharted or The Last of Us or even Gears of War looks like before all the downsampling that happens for the 360/PS3.
It's quite obvious at this point. All the crackers have leaked the details and it's almost pretty much backwards thinking that would prevent a PC version from releasing at this point, especially in the latest bit of leaks.
I think it's just a matter of when.
Finally, gamers are seeing the light.
Blogs like this let us know that plain and simple, we aren't ready for an all-digital generation yet.
If you thought 15 hours was a killer, how do you think PC gamers felt when they had to chug twice that data with Max Payne's 33gb load?
For people who naively say that Microsoft was "thinking about the future", I'm sorry but you're wrong... actually, no I'm not sorry, you...
Well, then it's not really N4G if people are expected to do anything more than make hyperbolic comments based on a headline.
Real Real men do it without the part in parenthesis.
Wow @ the people disagreeing with facts.
The original Guardian article doesn't even mention GTA V on PS4... PSU added that in there.
I'm thinking about getting a Steam Machine as my second gaming rig.
Depending on how well Valve's OS+hardware works out, I might build a LAN setup around their gear. I'm about tired of Windows and the slow booting, bloatware system anyway.
