I believe he was using the word "literally" in a figurative sense in order to emphasize the almost unbelievable nature of what it was he was referring to.
Ohhh, just game data like saves and stuff... I thought it was a whole media, backup, whatever kinda thing at first. That woulda been something else... albeit almost impossible to imagine.
"...though this information hails from the era where the new PlayStation was slated to ship with only 4GB of memory."
The most telling line I believe..
The RAM was boosted to 8 gb at some point and I believe it would be a ridiculous amount of RAM necessary to allocate for the OS alone..
Especially considering, as far as I am aware, those extra little processors and things dedicated to the audio as well as possibly the video recordin...
Survival horror along the lines of that one game coming out where you sorta just run from danger.
Trapped in a wheel chair the whole game or a straight jacket...
Could work.
Awesome! What game were you making by the way? Let me know when it's finished...
Little Big Planet anyone..
Obviously PCs lack any cloud power...
Something spooky though... couple guys I work with were talking about consoles and junk, don't know jack really about any of the negative publicity at all or criticisms...
REALLY wouldn't be surprised if ignorance once again prevails.
Yes and no. "Wasting," which I agree that they are doing, should be avoided, but I DON'T believe they should abandon what's commonly referred to as the "single player experience" altogether.
They need to do something with all the networking capabilities, raw power and their own ingenuity to reinvigorate the "offline" experience, whether that means adding cooperative components, more diverse gameplay experiences, you name it. They just nee...
Sure... it's just like the condom, it's restrictive and more fun without it.
Anyone heard of the Edison-Graham Enjoym-o-graph...?
Didn't think so
Game console circa 1870, never went into full production of course due in part to Graham's untimely death the previous year, er, and a lack of... well, games... of any kind, whatsoever.
Has a neat light bulb and gauges though, light bulbs were kind of the Call of Duty of the 1800's. A second model in development was to feature two light bulbs and even MORE gauges...
Well they didn't say anything about games being allowed, just the consoles.
Don't bash FPSs... because theys not cools
Best that they don't, last gen we had all the attempts at jumps in resolution for games due to the HD tvs and stuff and that always takes a toll on the other aspects of game quality.
If we jump resolution each generation, we won't see as many visual enhancements each time around apart from the overall clarity of the image. 1080p should be a goal and once reached, just put any remaining hardware resources into what the game can do and display.
Or you could just not take things so personally, there's maturity for ya.
Not to mention don't bother trying to read into when I say "junk" without any reasoning behind it, because you just miss the mark in so many ways.
Nobody feels "superior," CoD is king and you are the messiah.
I have spoken.
All hail JeffGUNZ and praise him with "Agrees."
700 huh?
Fair to say that we can just call it an army by definition now eh?
"We have an army working on this game, no biggie."
How do they feed them all? Pizza delivery drivers must be making a lot of overtime. And Starbucks has gotta be cleaning up too.
Truthfully... I think as long as there is CoD and junk people will still buy the things, even with a superior and more affordable device on the market (I'm sure most are unaware of a SINGLE thing that has happened, the flip flopping, any of it). Majority are gonna be oblivious to all that, only price will factor in initially. Then it's up to the players to decide do they wanna keep investing in the games it has to offer.
We live in a new era, where these mega franchis...
What size are they?
Hock those suckers, make yourself some dough
All comes down to preference in the end... but yeah, it's no secret, ESPECIALLY to dev people, what their limits are and budgetary restrictions.
I'm sure there will be things in MGS5 that GTA V can't do either.
That's what makes every game, movie, or book (anything really) unique (minus CoD games that is... :) ) but hopefully that will change.
My hope still hinges on the fact that it had been stated that only a few devs were even PRIVY to the fact that the PS4 would possess 8 gigs of RAM... so the idea being, that if they THOUGHT they would only have 4 gigs initially, what would be the big deal of having a whopping 4.5 available to them after the increase was widely known? And the rest going to the OS?
To me, only knowing nearly DOUBLE that amount was going to be available would be at all substantial in any real se...
