there is a difference of a free/pay structure. Sony can shut down their service at any time and the only people they are beholden to are the PS+ users. They have to credit lost time to PSN+ users and while you don't want to think it their voices have more weight in complaints. My guess though is that Sony's PS4 has PSN that cost money and is more in line with Live then with the current PSN.

the difference is that this is a real OS and the Pro version runs on an i5 with full desktop features.... it has 2 USB 3.0 ports and HDMI out
the pro version will come with an i5 so you'd be able to run a lot of your X64 and X86 based games on it...

it is running something in the background though... the Xbox Live stuff runs in the background takes up 10 percent of ram and processing power
sir... a group took a save file and used it to install Linux on the original Xbox... you think they couldn't do that with a open mod system... it still have to go through an approval system and that doesn't even include the nude texture mods and other weird stuff that would make old people in power want to raise the rating to AO
The biggest reason for lock down on mods is system instability and cheating... I know I have a lock pick mod for my game 0_-

different mind sets... they've always handled E3 completely differently... Microsoft generally only has 1 game that is more then a year off... maybe 2... (not counting delays) where as Sony announces several... some without a reasonable chance of coming out soon(ish). Both are just biding their time for the next gen anyway though seems like Sony would have at least half their big studios on the PS4 now
Quantic Dreams used to be a open company that didn't play favorites... it was weird to see them not make PC versions of their game...
@noctrnl13 you smoking crack? 7 God of War games 8 with the new one... in 2 generations and all of them play the same (there was actually a really fun mobile game for cell phones that I loved but we wont count that). You can say what you want about the Halo Franchise, but they've ventured out into different things and they set a standard in FPS and MP. There have been 4 Uncharted games in 5 years... what you have 9 Gran Tourismos? Look for MS this is the end of a generation and any new IP...
it's the end of the generation... it hardly matters right now how many new IPs MS is putting out on a console on it's last legs... it's weird that Sony wouldn't hold Last of Us for the PS4 to be their flag ship franchise for that generation

Xbox Live isn't a service in the same way PSN is... any features added to Live are automatically supported on every game and that is the true difference between PSN being a service and the Xbox 360 being a device that uses Xbox Live. When you understand the Xbox Live isn't a gaming service you'll finally start to understand. Xbox Live has grown far far further along then anyone ever anticipated. It's completely taken over the consumer side of Microsoft.
