This Got approved? Is this supposed to be some damning evidence of betrayal? It's crazy, its as if some people are trying to conform gamers into fanboys when it should be the other way around.

That response was kind of a no brainer. I don't think there's anyone questioning if the Xbox One is 1080P compatible but if the console is powerful enough to do it for certain games without sacrificing noticeable graphical effects. I guess developers have a lot of confidence in the upscaler the Xbox One has and feel they don't need to go native 1080p?

That's my best guess of the situation, but in reality though I don't think I'll notice a huge differe...

okay I just finished watching the comparison video 6 times, here are the differences I saw:

-The Xbox One contrast levels and lighting effects looked a lot more pronounced than the PS4, causing the Xbox One version to look crisper in some areas. Although if you concentrate closely you'll notice that there is more detail in dark objects and shadows on the PS4 due to the more subtle lighting effects.

-There were a few more Jaggies on the Xbox One version co...

@Axonometri

Nah, After the launch of the 360 and PS3, PC's skyrocketed with regards to graphical capability. Both the Xbox One or PS4 are considered to have the power of a mid range PC with the benefit of better optimization compared to a PC. And Yes there's no doubt that there are hardware limitations, all electronics have limitations. I just don't think any developing team has had time to optimize either console.

These are launch titles, don'...

Only Crytek would know what was capable with or without the use of the Esram, but why even speculate about that? That's like attempting to criticize the PS4 if it hypothetically only had 4 GB GDDR5. It just seems pointless. Fact is, the Esram is there for developers to use in whichever way they see fit so of course they're gonna use it to increase performance.

Cool stuff though, I enjoy reading why developers choose to make trade offs bas...

@Darthv72

Awesome, thanks for the detailed info. I guess there are some pros and cons to the routes that Microsoft and Sony went in regards to internal and external hard drive space.

On one hand, simply adding an external hard drive to the Xbox One from what it seems is a much easier process than the PS4, yet if you don't have the space for an extra Hard Drive next to your console Sony arguably chose the better path. I do wonder if Sony will overprice the...

@GiantEnemyCrab

Yes Microsoft confirmed a long time ago that you can just add an external drive to your console for extra space so that shouldn't be a problem. I did read an article stating that it wont be possible until 2014 though.

Hey btw does anyone have any idea if there's a way to transfer data from an older hard drive onto the newer one if you buy a bigger hard drive for the PS4? Or do you have to keep opening up the console to change the hard ...

I'd say that video games are completely subjective. Anyone could argue how the Xbox One's lineup is better just as you could argue the same point about the PS4's lineup. You'd both be right.

Luckily both consoles have great lineups so you really can't lose.

Next month can't come sooner lol

I have already preordered the Xbox One for launch and trust me I have not forgotten about the RROD fiasco that plagued the Xbox 360. It was ridiculous and just like you I went through three 360's before shipping off to boot camp. This however did not stop me from buying an Xbox One for a couple of reasons.

1. I personally prefer the games this launch and see a lot of potential, especially if Microsoft can maintain a solid game lineup throughou...

I can see some VERY minor differences but the fact that we all needed to do a side by side comparison to see them should tell us something. This could also be a reason why developers seem to be focusing more on steady frame rates and visual effects rather than use their resources on a better resolution in which most of us wont really notice anyway.

If developers can get 60 fps and native 1080p then more power to them but I don't think it's something we should all be ...

There's literally nothing Phil Spencer said in this article that was negative but you just couldn't resist could you?

It's good to hear him paying dues though, Sony's Playstation brand is legendary. I remember playing Parappa the Rappa, Spyro and Crash bandicoot when I was younger. They've still got great memorable games to this day.

Hopefully Microsoft can continue delivering more great games past launch an...

@ Jyndal or anyone who'd like to reply

Honest question so please don't think I'm being rude:

It's pretty much a known fact that in the future the current physical forms of media are going to phase out and everything will be digital. When that happens there will need to be some type of way for record labels, film companies, and video game developers to verify where their media is going, who's using it etc.

When this happens...

@Persistantthug

Good point, the architecture of the new consoles will be different and more similar to each other compared to last gen, so if that's the case I guess the developers will really have to work a lot more with the Xbox One in order to get the games exactly how they want it. Still, judging by the games I don't believe the 30%-50% claims in power advantage that I've seen on this site.

I do have an honest question though, how to companies...

No offense man but I think you missed his point of him mentioning The Last of Us. He was pointing out that the Xbox 360's graphical advantage over the PS3 didn't stop developers from making such a great game as The Last of Us on the Sony platform. He was trying to draw a parallel between the current gen and the next gen, clearly stating that pure hardware advantages don't necessarily translate into the best games. The Last of Us is a beast of a game because of the developers.

@ Richie007bond

Okay man I don't know about humble pie seeing as how the PS4 is very capable graphically, but I will say that the 30%-50 claims I've seen on this site don't seem very believable. Also, I have also heard the argument that the graphical difference isn't noticeable because both consoles are new. My response to that would be the following: 1. The PS4 is closer to the architecture of PC's seeing as how there are less custom designed parts compar...

I'll be honest, backwards compatibility isn't really a big deal to me. Once a new generation of systems come out I tend to put all of my time to the new lineup of games that come out and disregard the older games lol.

Although I personally don't care, there are still plenty of people that don't like supporting a platform late into its cycle and then getting screwed when the new systems come out. If both Gaikai and Microsofts cloud system can stream these game...

Quite honestly it shouldn't be a big deal whether it'd be Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo bragging about their systems and the games. Shouldn't each company have pride in their product? If I went to a car dealership and the salesperson had no faith in what they were selling me I probably would be less inclined to buy the car.

It's our job to formulate an opinion when the games come out and we get a chance to play them. And besides, if I read the article correctly,...

"There's good news for home theater enthusiasts, too. Microsoft is taking advantage of the console's IR blaster in a big way. The Xbox One can control individual components of your living room setup — a TV, receiver, etc. — recognizing commands like "Xbox, volume up" to make quick changes."

You're right, the article does state that you can say "Xbox volume up". Judging from the article it sounds to me like t...
