Beyond = great story but probably short on game play.
That maybe true but at he same time, sony can't really afford to handle the fallout from faulty hardware. They can't afford to pay out a billion dollars the way a cash rich corp like ms or apple can.

And they wonder why they have struggled to outsell MS in the US this gen. They may have more exclusive 1st party games but I'm willing to bet that from a business perspective, Microsoft or Nintendo would never wanna trade places with them.

We all know the real reason why some here don't like kinect. Its simply because its not for PS3. Sony could never have developed the software for that thing. Its way over their heads. they have a decent R&D but Microsoft's R&D division is 10 times larger and devote more resources to technology like this. I'm glad they made this clear because people seem to think Microsoft are the only ones who make deals like this. Now people can see that sony can be just as selfish.

The problem with that is that japan is not even close to being as significant as they used to be for the industry. They are slowly falling apart and getting beat by the west. They aren't producing great games the way they used to and the west is creaming them. For proof just look at how devs like Kojima spends most of his time visiting western studios... and look at the failure ...
Tablets don't have anything to do with gaming. Even if the tablets don't do well windows is still used by 95% of computers in the world today. MS don't need the gaming industry as much as sony does. Sony doesn't have anything to fall back on. Their tvs are getting beat by Samsung, they have lost the portable music industry to apple, their movies don't do as well as they used to, Nintendo is dominating the portable gaming market, and ms has stolen their US market share rig...
