Japanese 360 owners sure love their Idolm@ster, with three games in the charts. This chart also shows how financially disappointing it is having 360 exclusive JRPGs in Japan. It's no wonder why Cry On was cancelled now.
Battle models look just like what I expected it to look like. It also plays the same way I thought it would (except the air combos were something I didn't expect). I wasn't blown away by this trailer but at least it did show some gameplay.
I agree that the Resident Evil of now doesn't classify as a horror game anymore. Hell, I'd even go as far as to say that the series is more like an action thriller genre rather than survival horror. Especially now in RE5 where you actually have someone to depend on rather than going it alone. Although I loved RE4, with RE5 releasing in 2009 and especially after Dead Space, the game just feels like a last gen game that has been modified with HD graphics.
FFXIII delayed until 2011!
HOLY CRAP at the real-time ray tracing and using the Cell (SPU's) for rendering! I'm not sure if Guerilla will be giving a presentation at GDC, but if they do they'll have a full house attending.
I'm betting its Sherry Birkin from RE2.
Anyone who has played Street Fighter before already knows all the moves for all the returning characters. Only the new characters might require a read, but most special moves are executed by the same type of button combinations.
How much money Microsoft is willing to lose on Japan? They had three exclusive JRPGs released last year, and all they managed was a 60,018 increase over 2007. Not to mention the amount of money they spent on advertising, buying exclusives and multiplatform deals. Couple those costs with a bad economy and a rising yen, its no wonder why Cry On was cancelled.
This reminds me of Bioshock all over again. NDA's hard at work. If the game was exclusive, Microsoft would've stated that fact but they didn't. They're trying to milk as much 360 sales as they can and then throw in some miniscule extra content for the PS3 version and hope people buy the game again for the extra content.
The E.S. battles from Xenosaga Episode III. Where you have a certain amount of EN (energy) points for your mech, and attacks cost various amounts of EN; where you can then string together your own combination of different (multiple) attacks (per turn) as long as the total cost (of attacks) is less than your mechs' total amount of EN points. It was pretty entertaining in that game and hopefully it'll be fun in this game as well.
I'm going to miss 1UP Yours. Hands down my most favorite gaming podcast ever.
I think they should throw in the Resident Evil Degeneration Blu-ray movie.
I'm wondering if Star Ocean is Square Enix's last test to see how viable it is putting out RPG exclusives for the 360 in Japan. Although, I'm wondering how much money Microsoft is willing to lose on Japan especially in these difficult economic times. I guess Cry On was the first victim.
I understand the Star Ocean bundle since the game is exclusive (at least for now), and will sell relatively well. Although, I'm curious to see how the sales of the multiplatform Resident Evil 5 360 bundles will fare.
That's what public beta tests are for Cliffy :). They could've squashed a lot of these bugs before they went mass market.
Yep, I noticed that too. Looks like he's an otaku.
Does the background remind anyone else of Zanarkand?
For sure this game is multiplatform. Even Microsoft themselves never once said that the game was exclusive to the 360, and Microsoft loves to brag about its exclusives. Besides, if FFXIII can go to 360 then it's pretty much a done deal that SO4 is going to PS3.
I freaking called it in the original article. This game should be interesting to say the least.
That Forza 3 will be one of the big games Microsoft will announce and release this year. Other than Mass Effect, I can't really think of another big game exclusive that they could announce this year with such a short release window for the hype to build up. We'll see though...
