Yeah, it sounds to me like both games have good things going for them. Which is better, GT or Forza, is not really worthwhile to argue since both are great games and each player will have his own, valid opinion. Everybody enjoys different aspect of each game.
Different strokes for different folks.
Zune & iPod gaming is like cellphone gaming. They are only good for casual pick-up-and-play games while you are waiting. Like at the Dentist office or for your wife to come out of the store.
So I'm not overly excited about the possibilities for very substantial games released on these platforms. And I like buttons and a d-pad for my gaming, too.
But there are opportunities w/ the wifi capabilities for innovation in social and location-based gaming. Games on the...
I want a Zune over an iPod. I have a 2004 iPod that has to be plugged in to play, so I'm about due for a new mp3 player.
But I heard that the Zune would have a somewhat closed app store, making it hard for third parties to develop apps. If this is true, then that might be a deal breaker. I gots to have all those wonderful apps.
I agree. It is kind of annoying when it is there and just not part of the game. You start to feel cheated.
I feel the same way when I walk into a bar and there is Petron on the top shelf yet I'm drinking Cuervo. The bartender should just give it to me, it's there.
I'm being sarcastic there. But the principal, I think, is the same.
The thing is, extra content is probably one of the most expensive things to include in a CE because of all the salaries in...
There's rarely anything in special editions to justify the extra money.
But I disagree w/ REALGamer on the DLC. Standard edition customers aren't missing out, they're paying less for less content. For me, extra content would be the ONLY reason to shell out more money.
Playing a good game of Rock Band/Guitar Hero does have an effect on life. It helps you discover new music and experience music with friends. It fulfills the fantasy of being a rock star. If playing games has no effect on your life at all, then I ask why do you play?
Games impact life more like watching a movie, looking at a piece of art or playing a board game. Do any of those impact one's ability to differentiate from fact & fiction? Not at all. That's not what we are talki...
It's like in Hollywood. The big producers shove a ton of special effects into a crappy movie (transformers 2) then market the action flick to force it down people's throats. They spend enough money to make you THINK the movie/game is a big deal when it's really more of the same.
Sadly I think distribution methods is the largest factor. XBLA is helping to change that, to allow indie developers an avenue to the masses. But when a game like Darkest of Days or Venetica has to compet...
For Sure. Missing a Pink Floyd concert in Venice by ONE DAY would be heartbreaking. Even more so than when I missed the Reggae River Boat cruise by one day for four years in a row.
Disagree. Video games are art and part of our culture and as such have impact on real life. Not everyone will have the same reaction to art, but that's the point.
We're having this discussion, aren't we? About how real people should be portrayed in video games. You say they should be humorous like cartoons, which is fine and great for satire. I say that sometimes a game can have more impact for being serious and portraying living people accurately and with context. The Beatles: R...
@ Pixel Addict
There's an excerpt of his suicide note if you follow the link to the story. But yeah, his note suggests he felt guilty because he felt like he was punching a clock everytime he went out on stage.
Actually, he was cremated and scattered in the Wishkah River.
And when you're gone all that you leave in this world are things you have created and people you have touched. So his image is paramount and protecting it is the last gift his survivors can give him.
@ NecrumSlavery
Fair enough. But they are both games, not simulations. Except for maybe the drums, those are pretty close.
I hadn't even heard of this Venetica game until now.
I would think more publishers would take advantage of lull moments in the spring and summer to get more press coverage and hype. Not to mention to take advantage of the money burning holes in our pocket then.
I agree. I'm glad some of these AAA titles got delayed until next year. It shows that the developers are taking the extra time to polish the game.
I also went to Venice in high school and had a similar impression. Venice is a marvel of architecture and I'm excited whenever I see it depicted in a video game.
Some people complain about the track list being so short. I would rather have 45 awesome songs over 3 good songs and 97 I don't like.
I agree. If I want to play multiplayer, I will turn to the few games that do it perfectly right. Like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and COD. Throwing multiplayer in just because it fits (i.e. it's a FPS game) just detracts from the effort & money that could have been devoted to the single player game. Not EVERY game has to have multiplayer. Some of my favorite games don't have it at all.
I also would like to see more interesting characters in video games. As graphics hit a peak, story is going to be all the more important in gaming.
For real. I'm totally down w/ a 30-hour day!
